Norfolk photographer’s destination wedding image wins award
13 Dec 2019
Belinda Buxton has been announced as the winner of the Destination Wedding category in Professional Photo magazine’s Wedding Photographer of the Year competition
Belinda Buxton, a photographer based in Wymondham, has struck gold with her shot of McKayla and Steve Perry on their wedding day at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
The image scooped the top accolade in the Destination Wedding category in the Wedding Photographer of the Year competition run by Professional Photo magazine. It will now be put forward for the grand final, with the overall winner announced at The Photography Show at the NEC in Birmingham next year.
Commenting on the winning image, Belinda says: “McKayla and Steve had their heart set on marrying at the Eden Project and their dream came true. The ceremony took place in the Mediterranean dome on a beautiful sunny day, followed by the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. The whole day was an absolute joy and I was spoilt for choice with photo opportunities.”
Belinda has also received news that she has reached the final of the fiercely contested Guild of Photographers Image of the Year competition.
The online monthly photographic competition is judged by internationally respected judges and of the 13,500 entries received, Belinda’s image of Lady Pennywise (pictured in gallery) has been shortlisted in the final ten. The winner will be announced on 1st February 2020.
Guild is a highly respected UK based association for photographers, which has both national and international members. Guild director Lesley Thirsk said: “One of the Guild’s aims is to drive standards and creativity among photographers. To have an image recognised by the Guild in the monthly competition is difficult enough, so to have an image selected as being one of the best in a category for the end of year final is without doubt an incredible achievement, and shows just how talented a photographer Belinda is.”
