Who has topped the 'first dance song' charts? Find out here...

VoucherCodesPro.co.uk has unveiled that Ed Sheeran, John Legend and Adele are the most popular artists for first dance songs.

Topping the charts for a second year, Ed Sheeran is the favourite artist with 1 in 7 British couples who are getting married this year choosing a track of his, while John Legend and Adele take second and third place respectively. A breakdown of the top five artists can be found below:

  1. Ed Sheeran - 14%
  2. John Legend - 9%
  3. Adele - 9%
  4. Beyoncé - 7%
  5. Michael Bublé - 6%

George Charles, spokesperson for www.VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, said: “We could all guess that Ed Sheeran topped the list last year, but we’re all a little surprised he’s already topping the list again this year. He may have released a whole new album, but we haven’t become quite as obsessed with any of the songs just yet as we were with Thinking Out Loud. It will be interesting to see if the songs that people pick for the first dances this year will be from his new album, or an older one.”

The survey, which collated the views of 2,518 Britons, also found that the theme, the first dance music and the venue are the hardest decisions to make when it comes to arranging the big day.

Yet the to-do list appears to be unfairly shared with 57% of brides-to-be doing the majority of the planning, followed by the wedding planner (20%) and the mother/mother-in-law (18%). Only 2% of grooms-to-be took the reins with the planning tasks.

Budgets also proved an eye-opener, with respondents' total wedding costs sitting at a staggering average of £23,495. However, a majority of couples stated that they would foot the bill themselves (43%), while 26% said the bride's parents would be paying and 14% - the grandparents.
