More couples choosing Jamaican destination weddings
04 May 2017
Jamaica is proving an increasingly popular location for British and Irish couples choosing destination weddings
From its balmy climate and dreamy beaches to its spectacular sunsets, it is clear to see why Jamaica continues to prove popular for weddings held abroad.
The Jamaica Tourist Board has recently released figures which present a 40% increase in British and Irish couples choosing to marry in Jamaica since 2016.
Celebrities have even been known to wed in Jamaica, such as soul legend Stevie Wonder who recently announced that his third marriage will take place on one of the Caribbean island's many beaches.
Here are just some of the reasons why Jamaica is a favourable location to tie the knot:
- Visitors can be married 24 hours after arriving in Jamaica
- All marriage documents can be provided and received in English
- Great value all-inclusive resorts such as Sandals, Beaches and Riu
- Excellent regional departures across the UK from cities such as Cardiff, Newcastle and Glasgow – allowing couples to take local groups
Elizabeth Fox, UK and Northern Europe regional director for the Jamaica Tourist Board, said: "Jamaica is undoubtedly one of the most romantic spots on earth and we have seen an increase of 40% from 2016 of British and Irish couples who have chosen to get married there. Couples can experience a wedding and honeymoon, all in one. With warm waves, dreamy beaches and spectacular sunsets, it’s the perfect way to start married life."
