Meet the designer: Svetlana Wilson
We meet local dress designer, Svetlana Wilson from Studio Bridalwear
Q: What do you enjoy most about working in bridal?
A: Creating wedding dresses for brides-to-be makes me very excited as it is a big responsibility to make a bride’s dream gown. I enjoy creating those stunning wedding and evening gowns.
Q: How did you get into bridal?
A: I have been making womens’ clothes for 15 years then, after a break I decided to devote myself to make bridal, bridesmaid and evening gowns.
Q: Have you a signature style?
A: I like romantic, classic/traditional and contemporary styles, although I can work with whatever style a bride-to-be chooses.
Q: What should a bride-to-be look for in a bridal gown?
A: It is best to choose lines and styles that you know are flattering to your figure.
Q: What advice would you give a bride-to-be?
A: If bride-to-be is not sure yet what style to choose it is better to try on a range of styles and colours at a bridal store or boutique where you can make decisions about what you look and feel comfortable in.
Q: What do you advise brides to do with their dress after the wedding?
A: You can keep, sell, rent, or give it to charity. Alternatively you can take your dress to a dressmaker like me and, depending on the style, they can make some changes so you will be able to wear it again at a party or special occasion.
