A magnificent Marie Antoinette bridal shoot in Herefordshire

17 Mar 2016

The distinctive and distinguised style of Marie Antoinette takes centre stage, in this bridal shoot from Aisle Hire It Limited.

Elegantly enchanting and captivatingly colourful, this Marie Antoinette-themed bridal shoot, organised by prop hire and venue styling company Aisle Hire It Limited, is jam-packed with inspiration to make your big day even more memorable.

Shot at Homme House in Ledbury, the shoot raised £100 for St Michael's Hospice in Hereford, thanks to the generous donations of the day’s suppliers.

Here, Ellis Walby, director of Aisle Hire It Limited, talks through the ideas and intricacies behind the shoot.

What was the inspiration behind the shoot?

Marie Antoinette and the French Renaissance era. We styled the shoot around the Pantone colours of 2016 (serenity and rose quartz) creating a soft, feminine, opulent and romantic vibe, whilst injecting plenty of quirky elements reminscent of Marie Antoinette. With the influence of the French Renaissance era continued throughout the shoot, we combined an eclectic and unique style with that of soft bridal opulence. There was a wonderfully heavy focus on fashion, in addition to decadent florals, beautifully hand finished cakes and styling.

How did the shoot come about?

We, at Aisle Hire It Limited, have a genuine love for history and so we have wanted to style a Marie Antoinette bridal shoot for years. With the increase in luxury and opulence styled weddings that we were receiving, we knew it was time to get out there and create something truly breathtaking.

How did you integrate the colour scheme into the shoot?

The 2016 Pantone colours were the perfect palette to complement this Marie Antoinette theme, and we ensured that the gentle pastel shades were carefully used throughout the shoot, with the occasional injection of bolder colours and gold to give the styling depth.

What were the main features of the shoot?

From the beautiful bridal bouquet that was adorned with pink feathers and pearl necklaces, to the intricately hand finished Marie Antoinette wedding cake that took pride of place on our vintage quaint dressing table, every element of the shoot was carefully planned.

Whilst we injected plenty of period features and detailing, such as the glorious interior of Homme House, the wonderful horse Azgard, the masculine military jacket and the ‘M’ wax seal on the napkin designs, we ensured that we still created a soft, airy feel to the shoot and gave the modern day engaged couple plenty to relate to – such as the giant gold glitter scroll Love illuminated letters.

Everything from the regal invitation designs and delicate little miniature cakes, to the opulent Versailles sofa and glass wear – we ensured the shoot oozed style and grandeur but in a light, airy way.

We created a truly breathtaking wedding aisle with sumptuous ruffle tie backs and delicately placed roses to decorate, eight blossom trees were were 6ft tall, evenly placed and rose petals in a complementing colour.

What did you choose for the hair, make-up and styling?

Fashion, bridal accessories, beautiful make up and hair were clearly a key part of this inspiration shoot. Beautiful rosy cheeks and gorgeous piles of curls made Jessica shine. In relation to the fashion, we used a combination of couture dresses and accessories and modern day tulle gown, in order to create truly unique styles.
