Make your Bridesmaids Gifts Special

05 Aug 2016

As your wedding day draws nearer, you know that a million and one things need to get done, and no doubt time is speeding up and you feel like you don’t have enough hours in the day. Our advice is to get prepared as early as possible, and buy your bridesmaids’ gifts well in advance.

Keep it Simple…

Finding gifts for bridesmaids can sometimes be difficult as you may feel lost in the plethora of ideas around you, while wanting to get something unique and meaningful. You will need to consider gift options carefully if your bridesmaids are of all ages and different tastes. Keeping it simple is the key. Here are four easy steps to find the perfect gift.

  1. Agree on a budget for the gifts, so that you don’t spend more than you were planning to. Most people put aside around £30 for each bridesmaid, but depending on the number of bridesmaids and the size of your pockets, don’t feel you have to stick to the norm.
  1. Try to think about gifts that would suit everyone, even if you decide to get them different versions of the same item. You want to try and keep things easy, and don’t want to disappoint anyone who would have preferred the same gift as another bridesmaid.
  1. Think personal – you want to thank them for helping you arrange your special day, for taking part in or organising your hen night, and for being an important friend or relative. There are many gifts online that can be personalised with names. You could make your gifts even more personal by crafting them yourself if you have time.
  1. Don’t buy gifts that are too personal such as perfume or bath products – everyone has individual taste and some may not like them. Although flowers are lovely, they are not something a friend can keep forever to remind them of your special day.

Research Gift Ideas…

There are so many shops and websites that offer stunning and inexpensive gifts for bridesmaids so be sure to explore. Whether they would like something such as a trinket box, a quirky feminine hip flask or a beautiful piece of personalised jewellery in silver or gold. You could opt for a silver and gold name necklace from a site such as Onecklace which you can personalise with your bridesmaids’ names. You can personalise further by choosing from font styles such as fun, gothic or elegant or include a heart or a flower, depending on what you think they would love. Jewellery is a safe bet as it is suitable for all ages and seems to be one of the most popular gifts for bridesmaids. Or how about a photograph in a silver frame, a jewellery box or an engraved glass to remember the day…?

If you want to keep things light and give your bridesmaids funny gifts, you could always find a slogan t-shirt that says 'Team Bride' or a bag for 'Chief Bridesmaid', or even a mug stating 'I can't keep calm, I'm the bridesmaid!'. You don’t have to give a serious gift, so it's all down to personal preference and as long as your bridesmaids feel appreciated, then you will both be happy.
