What distinguishes Indian bridal make-up from other cultural bridal looks?
Indian bridal make-up is usually very bold, heavy and vibrant – whether it’s on the eye as eyeshadow or the lips. It’s quite different from other bridal looks as it’s very glam and is usually finished off with a heavy contour to bring out the cheekbones.
What are the key trends in Indian bridal make-up for 2019/2020 weddings?
The key trends in Indian bridal make-up for 2019/2020 is a soft brown smoked out eyeshadow with a nude or red lip depending on the bride's outfit. The face base is usually quite heavy, however with products that are available now make-up artists can create a skin-like base flawlessly. It is traditional for the bride to wear a red outfit however times have changed and brides usually opt for neutral colours now and match their make-up with their outfit.
There’s a huge range of inspiration for make-up trends available on YouTube, with everything from the perfect cut-crease to full face make-up looks at your fingertips ahead of the big day.
How should a bride prepare her skin in the run up to the wedding and on the day itself?
Brides should invest in a good skincare routine in the run up to their wedding as it’s important for the skin to look good so make-up can be applied flawlessly. Exfoliating, cleansing and moisturising is key for a ideal base, it gets rid of any dead skin cells on your face and it also makes the face radiant. If you have any spots/pimples on the run up to your wedding. I would definitely buy a spot cream/oil to get rid of them. On your wedding day it is extremely important to exfoliate your lips if you are opting for a bold lip colour or a liquid lipstick.
Why should a bride consider her outfit choice when choosing her wedding make-up look?
Your wedding outfit really determines what make-up look you are going to go for. If there is a lot going on with the outfit you need to be careful not to overdo your make-up as it can look too much. So when choosing your outfit you need to be mindful of the make-up choice you have in mind.
What is your best tip for ensuring bridal make-up stays in place all day long?
My tip for bridal make-up to stay in place is a primer before applying any make-up and a good setting powder, preferably a translucent one with no flashback, to set the whole face. You can apply a seting powder with a damp beauty blender and use a fixing spray to make sure your make-up is locked in place.
What is currently your favourite bridal look and why?
Currently I am loving a soft eye look with a smoked out black eyeliner, flawless full coverage foundation with a blinding highlighter and a bold red lip to make a statement.
