Lords of the manor
James and Wayne Manship Hall
Where: Thornton Manor, Wirral

We love travelling and experiencing different cultures so travel was immediately decided as the theme of our day. We liked the idea of incorporating the places we’d visited together but also wanted it to complement the old world elegance of our venue, Thornton Manor.
I found an old and tattered vintage suitcase on eBay and we turned this into our table plan. Name tags tied with ruby ribbon to a single red rose were on the tables for each guest. We wore ivory suits which we contrasted with deep ruby red ruches so the colours were easy to decide upon. The wedding favours reflected this with little white tuxedos with a ruby paper rose in the buttonholes.
The flowers were an array of red and white roses, intermingled with cherry lip orchids and white peonies. We had two beautiful flower girls, Casey Mae and Olivia, who both had ivory laced dresses, rose-adorned head dresses and tied bouquets. They looked adorable. The flowers draped on candelabras made the place look even more amazing.
We both arrived on the day together and it suddenly seemed unreal as we entered the manor house. Frank, our photographer, did a fantastic job in calming us both before the service, taking us away for some photos in the grounds.
Before we knew it we were on the red carpet walking down the beautiful Lime Tree Walk towards the registrar. Any nervousness we had evaporated as soon as we saw all our friends and family smiling and supporting us. My sister, Claire and Wayne’s friend, Anthony, each read a beautiful and poignant reading. We booked a violist to play our chosen music and she did us proud.
The evening entertainment was just as brilliant with our wedding band, Agent Smith. They really got everyone on their feet partying the night away. Out came the inflatable guitars and off came the high heels! The atmosphere was electric and one guest even commented that it was like being at a concert, the band were that good. The day was so emotional for us. A truly amazing time was had by all. It was full of laughter and joy from start to finish and we felt so privileged to have so many great memories to think about fondly for the rest of our lives together.
