Oxfam has eleven shops with bridal departments, including Cambridge, as well as selling gowns and accessories online.

Over 95% of the stock in Oxfam bridal departments is new and comes from designers and bridal shops when they change their stock over at the end of the season. Many are ex-catwalk and are in mint condition. As well as wedding dresses, Oxfam can help with accessories, shoes, bridesmaids’ dresses and outfits for the mother of the bride.

The average cost of an Oxfam wedding dress is around £250.

The three dresses featured in our image left to right are an Alice James gown in stunning red, a snip at just £350. It’s brand new and would have cost £675 in the shop. The middle image is a Susan Neville two-piece which is on sale for just £300. The dresses are currently available online at www.oxfam.org.uk/weddings.

But because the dresses are donated, then the stock is constantly changing.

And buying a gown from Oxfam will also make you feel brilliant because of the good it will do. A wedding dress that sells for £250 in an Oxfam shop could provide 35 children with a school kit (pens, paper, books, uniform, etc.) so both donations and sales really make a difference.

Many thoughtful brides donate their dresses after their weddings, including Oxfam customers who donate their purchase back to Oxfam after the wedding.

All Oxfam bridal wear departments are on the first floor where privacy is assured.

Oxfam takes care to create the right environment and atmosphere and the volunteers ensure every customer has a special happy experience. Booking an appointment with the nearest shop is the best way to make the most of Oxfam’s service: a trained assistant will be on hand to help and customers will be able to view and try on the dresses in comfort. Some departments can also advise on alterations.
