Mini-moons are on the rise and the Lake District has been revealed as the nation's favourite spot for a romantic getaway
In a recent poll conducted by last minute cottage provider, Snaptrip, the Lake District topped the charts as the place most people would like to go for a romantic break.
The poll, which took into account the views of 1,000 Brits, found that 56% favoured the Lake District, while 37% chose Cornwall and 26% opted for the Cotswolds.
The top five romantic environments were revealed as:
- A lakefront (23%)
- A beach (22%)
- The countryside (21%)
- A mountain (12%)
- A city (10%)
While the top 10 romantic activities or features were unveiled as:
- Romantic walk (47%)
- A meal out (46%)
- A romantic break (46%)
- Log fire (39%)
- Candles (27%)
- A thoughtful/personalised gift (27%)
- Flowers (24%)
- Four poster bed (22%)
- A meal in (22%)
- Alcohol (21%)
