We got engaged in 2009 but then had our daughter and got a bit side tracked! We knew we wanted to get married in the Lakes so looked at a few venues. The Langdale Chase stood out from all the other hotels in terms of the look of the rooms, hotel and view of the lake.
I knew I wanted a dress with lace on it, with a romantic classic feel to it. I tried on several dresses and had given up on finding the perfect dress. However, as soon as I put on my dress I got goose bumps and knew it was ‘the one’.
As we got married away from home we stayed in a B&B and so I did see Ryan on the morning of the wedding. We sat and ate breakfast together and then Ryan left to get ready at another hotel. I thought I would be very emotional during the ceremony as my mum passed away 11 years ago and I was missing her more than ever. However, my overriding feeling was excitement that I was finally marrying Ryan after nearly 10 years together and I practically ran down the aisle. Our wedding was a real family affair - our daughter Maisie, Ryan’s daughter Lydia and my niece and nephew Grace and Oliver were all flower girls/pageboys. Ryan’s son, Daniel and Ryan’s brother-in-law Steve were joint best men.
The colours of the wedding were ivory and pale pink. The dresses, place settings, table decorations etc all had an English rose/romantic theme. I made all of the orders of service, place settings, table confetti, table plan and guest book myself.
After the ceremony we had drinks and scones with jam and cream and then started the formal photos. Our photographer, Chris Brudenell, came with us. He has taken photos for us previously and we love his style. Chris is more like a friend now and has a wonderful knack of making everyone feel very comfortable within a short space of time. Having our photographs taken was a fun part of the day and the photos were all amazing.
We hired a boat for us all which went from the hotel around Lake Windermere for an hour which everyone enjoyed.
The wedding breakfast food was amazing and I just wished I didn’t have a corset in my dress! The hotel staff were excellent, really attentive and professional.
In the evening we opened the doors out onto the patio and mingled inside and out with our own music playing in the background. The children were able to run around outside and the adults could happily enjoy their drinks with a wonderful view of the lake.
