It’ll be alright on the night

Most women have dreamed about their big day since they pronounced Ken and Barbie husband and wife in their bedroom. As the years pass, the vision of the perfect wedding leaves the dominion of play, and the reality can be very stressful. But don’t panic, we’ve got some top tips.

1) Get plenty of exercise in the weeks leading up to your wedding. Exercise has been found to release endorphins in the brain, leaving you on a natural high. So not only will it help you look even better in that gorgeous wedding dress, but it will also help to clear any frustration and tension. See our pre-wedding exercise feature on page 34 for more information.

2) Treat yourself to a session at a day spa with friends. You and your bridal entourage could head to a haven of tranquillity where massages, facials and body wraps will make any stresses disappear. Some even have access to a swimming pool, sauna and steam room to sweat away those worries – and loose a few pounds at the same time.

3) Ensure that you’re as calm and collected as you can be on the morning of your wedding by allowing yourself plenty of time to get ready. The last thing you want is to get yourself into a fluster by frantically rushing around. Allow at least 20 minutes to get into your dress, and make sure you have spares of essentials like stockings in case of ladder emergencies.

4) Be organised. It’s important to think ahead to avoid any unnecessary panicking. Make sure things like payment cheques and cards are written in advance. You should also phone your suppliers at least a week before the wedding to ban any anxieties you may have about whether or not they’re going to turn up. The more you plan, the less you will need to worry.
