Orchardleigh Estate in Frome, Somerset, has announced the winners of its competition to find the UK's best love story
Owner of Orchardleigh Estate, Chris Vincent, along with his wife, Heather, have announced the winners of their nationwide search to find the UK's best love story.
Whittled down from thousands of entries following an online vote, the winners have been revealed as Becky Tessier and Orin Jackson, aged 25 and 26, from Warminster (pictured).
The couple met when they were 16-years-old on their first day of high school. A mutual friend, who knew they both secretly liked each other, placed their hands together and they never let go.
However, having met at such a young age, their lives took different paths and despite attending different universities, the pair made a promise to one another that nothing would change. They exchanged handwritten letters during this time and today - a decade later - Becky and Orin are now engaged, share a house and own a gecko.
Claiming 36% of the total online vote, Becky and Orin were thrilled to win the competition. They said: "We were so surprised to even be shortlisted in this competition, and now to hear that we're the winners is amazing. We hope that our story proves that young love can last and become the best love stories out there." The childhood sweethearts will enjoy an overnight stay at Orchardleigh Estate as their prize.
Runners-up in the competition were James and Peggy Braybrook who were introduced at the age of two by their families at an RAF base in Cyprus where their fathers worked. They reconnected 16 years later and are now married with children.
