In the pink
Lewis Brazil and Hayley Williamson’s wedding was a fairytale come true

I didn’t have a particular theme in mind for our wedding, I just wanted the traditional big white fairytale and to feel like a princess for the day, like most girls dream of when they’re growing up.
I chose to have dusky pink as our colour scheme because it’s one of my favourite colours and is a natural colour that I would be able to match in my flowers, using roses.
I tried on dozens of dresses but didn’t get the ‘wow I need to have this dress feeling’. I thought I was being picky but one evening I was looking at the Ronald Joyce collections online and found my perfect dress. I just knew it was ‘the one’ and had to find it, which I did, at Christina K bridal wear in Maidstone. I knew it was my perfect dress as soon as I tried it on.
I felt really calm about the wedding, but when the day finally arrived the butterflies just wouldn’t disappear.
It was a beautiful day, so I had no worries about the weather, but I felt so nervous that the day should go exactly as I’d planned. I felt like the Queen on the way to the church with all the passers-by waving and wishing me luck.
The best moment was walking down the aisle and knowing it was actually happening (finally). I reached Lewis at the end of the aisle and he told me I looked beautiful which made me even happier.
We were both nervous about the ‘big kiss’, but the funniest thing is that it never happened. We’re not sure if it wasn’t part of the ceremony or if it was forgotten. However, our photographer Lisa made sure we kissed under the confetti.
Everything went smoothly leading to our evening reception, starting with my dad’s speech which was a little bit emotional. Lewis didn’t really want to say much so kept it simple and just thanked everyone for sharing the day with us and his best man finished off with a short speech too.
Our first dance was to Shania Twain’s Still the One. We both like the song and decided together that it was going to be the one we had our first dance to.
