Your wedding should be remembered for many reasons and choosing the perfect entertainment will set the standard for the wedding celebrations. From day to night, your wedding entertainment should keep your guests amused during quieter interludes and also create an extra special atmosphere when it comes to the all-important first dance and wedding after-party. But where do you begin when searching for a match made in heaven?

There are many aspects to consider, but your personal music taste is a good place to start for your big day. Daniel Smith, director and artist (also known as DaxOnSax) at Six15 Events, which is based in Cheshire and Manchester and caters to weddings worldwide, says: “Think about music – what sort of music do you like and want at your wedding, and what sort of vibe do you want it to create. Also, consider the aesthetic of your music choice; how do you feel when you listen to it?”

Six15 Events is primarily an artist management company, allowing you to choose and book from a range of DJs and live artists with desirable profiles in the club and bar world. “We don’t just supply any DJ or live artist,” continues Daniel. “We put our client in control of who performs at their wedding. In terms of the customer journey, we make it our objective to find out what music you are into which will determine the specialist artists that are recommended. From house and r’n’b to ‘80s, ‘90s and Motown, we offer a credible mix of material across the spectrum. This forms the basis of our bespoke approach.”

Create a wedding playlist to bring along to your first meeting with your wedding entertainment provider. This will allow them to get a better sense for the ‘sound’ you like and the wedding music you desire. Six15 Events has its own record label, so a lot of the music they play at weddings will have already been aired on worldwide radio stations including Radio 1. Six15 Events’ dedicated Spotify playlist also allows you to listen to tracks and add them to your own wedding playlist.

The wider visual performance of your wedding entertainment should also be given some thought and when it comes to your evening party, the options are endless. Six15 Events provides not only the best talent but the specialist services of an in-house production team who can add theatre to any wedding performance with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, as well as optional extras which include dry ice, smoke, confetti and CO2. This not only creates a spectacle, but ensures dancing all night long.

However, don’t place all the emphasis on your evening entertainment; your daytime entertainment should also be considered. While you may opt for non-musical performers such as a magician or caricaturist for your post-ceremony drinks reception, musical entertainment suited to the time of day will set the tone, create a welcoming atmosphere and keep your wedding guests entertained from noon to night.

Daniel says: “We can adapt our evening performances for a more chilled feel during the day. Some of our artists suit the daytime more, such as our electric violin live artists. They can then be taken through to the evening to offer an incredible energy never before seen.”

Whatever you decide, your wedding entertainment should be a reflection of you as a couple. Guiding and advising in your choices to ensure the breadth of your guests are catered for, the professionals like Six15 Events are best placed to provide expert input, draw up an entertainment schedule, liaise with other wedding suppliers and deliver a wedding day celebration like no other.
