When couples start planning their big day, many consider the date and theme first.
Although Halloween isn't the top choice as a theme for most couples, if you are planning an October wedding, it's the perfect time of year to get creative and add something different to your big day that is sure to have guests talking for months to come.
However, you don't need to have a full Corpse Bride moment to enjoy the festivity and fun Halloween has to offer. Here are seven simple ways to add a Halloween element to your wedding.
1. Table Names
If you are a fan of scary films, why not name your tables after your favouirte horror flicks? From the Nightmare on Elm Street to Friday The 13th, which terrifying table will you send your guests to?
2. Treat or... Treat?
What's Halloween without some sweet treats to sink your teeth into? Set up a pick and mix stand filled with your favourite sweets along with scoops and trick-or-treat bags for guests to help themselves. Great fun for both kids and adults.
3. Raise a Glass
For something a little more grown-up, serve up a selection of spooky cocktails with your evening entertainment. Complete with black and orange straws and glass decorations.
4. Place Settings
For a subtle nod to the season, use miniature pumpkins with twine and name tags around the stork as a unique and budget friendly alternative to table place cards.
5. Face Painting
As a great way to keep kids entertained, and adults after a few drinks, hire a face painter to turn your guests from mere mortals to undead monsters.
6. Table Settings
Table decorations are a great way to incorporate a theme without going over the top. From scattering plastic spiders over the table, adding black gothic candelabras to the centrepiece, or paying homage to the season with pumpkins and shiny red apples on the plates.
7. Wedding Favours
Your wedding favours are a great excuse to add personalisation and get creative with ideas. Create a box of treats with your "Death Do Us Part" wedding date printed in gothic font on the front or offer up a miniature bottle of your favourite tipple labled "Poison".
