During a stopover in Iceland, on the way to Amsterdam, Jennifer Don took the plunge and proposed to her long distance boyfriend, Matt Truebe, beneath the near-freezing water of Þingvellir Lake.
Thanks to airline Icelandair which has recently launched its Celebration Stopover Buddy service to plan everything from honeymoons to proposals, Jennifer's grand plan was brought to life. Offering local knowledge and connections to make Jennifer's dreams possible, the Celebration Stopover Buddies were led by flight attendant, Unnur, who even arranged for the couple's family members to fly out and surprise Matt.
Jennifer and Matt regularly juggle a long distance relationship with Matt's work frequently taking him to Europe - away from their home in the USA. Rather fittingly, the place of proposal straddles the continents of Europe and North America as Þingvellir Lake sits on a tectonic boundary - allowing the couple to quite literally meet in the middle.
Scuba diving enthusiast, Matt, did not suspect a thing as the couple were led out on to the lake. Once beneath the surface, the couple swam towards an area decorated with hearts before Jennifer produced a series of signs, which culminated in the ultimate question: 'Will you marry me?'.
Watch the video here and see if Matt said yes:
Icelandair's Celebration Stopover Buddies are available for any Icelandair translatlantic passengers, and can be requested from now until March 31, 2017. For further information, visit icelandair.com/en-gb/flights/stopover/.
