On Sunday 14th October, the final closing party of the Ibiza 2018 season took place at Pacha. James Hughes, owner of wedding DJ agency PianoDJ, has just returned from a seven-week residency in Ibiza and worked alongside some of the most exciting DJs on the island.

Ibiza is one of the most diverse and exciting places for house music in the world and musically, there is something for everyone. We asked James to record a mix of the top 20 Ibiza house tracks that will be filling dance floors at weddings over the next six months. The mix starts with disco house and then progresses through house, vocal house and tech house.

Here are the tracks that make up the mix, picked by some of the best in the business…

Track 1: Everybody Dance by Chic (Joey Negro Revibe)

What a better way to start a house mix than with this happy and powerful track? Friday night in Ibiza means Glitterbox. Thousands of clubbers catch the plane to Ibiza on Friday night after work and head straight to super club Hi for an evening of disco-infused house music. This version is a re-edit by the legendary Joey Negro who has infused a Roy Ayres style vibraphone part to the track and transformed it into something sensational.

Track 2: Cola by Camelphat & Elderbrook (Mousse T.’s Glitterbox Mix)

Cola is the biggest selling dance track of the year and has been championed by all of the biggest house and club DJs around the world. As a result, it has been remixed by lots of different producers and Mousse T.’s disco house version is an Ibiza favourite. It is a guaranteed dance floor filler and will be in my wedding DJ sets for many months to come.

Track 3: Do You Want by Charles J (Crazibiza Remix)

Big house tracks that sample tracks from the past are a great way to get all ages dancing on your wedding day. Do You Want is a perfect example of this as it uses a sample of Voulez-Vous by ABBA and gives it a new lease of life as a dance track.

Track 4: Le Freak by Chic (Dimitri From Paris Remix) [2018 Remaster]

During my time in Ibiza, I was invited to play at the super club Es Paradis for a house night called ‘Mi Casa Es Tu Casa’ meaning ‘My House is Your House’. The brand is run by DJ Paul Hutchinson who is one of the UK’s leading disco and soulful house DJs. I asked Paul to pick his favourite disco infused house track from his Ibiza season this year and his choice was the Dimitri from Paris remix of the massive anthem, Le Freak by Chic.

Track 5: Finally by Nicola Fasano & Kate Wild (Crazibiza remix)

Funky house is one of the most requested genres at weddings at the moment because a lot of couples getting married grew up on funky house in their clubbing days. Finally is a great track, loved by almost everybody and it has super catchy vocals that just make you want to sing along. The Crazibiza remix brings the track into the current disco house format.

Track 6: Heat by Rapson Feat. Nathan Thomas (Opolopo Extended Remix)

When I DJ at a wedding, I always have a crew member working alongside me to help with the set-up and pack down. On my final UK wedding gig before I went to Ibiza, I was working alongside a crew member called Theo who also works as a sound engineer for a band called Uncle Funk. Theo told me that the keyboard player from his band had written a really cool house track and he played it to me on the way to the wedding. I was hooked on the first listen and over the summer, it became huge in Ibiza.

Track 7: Lola’s Theme Recut by The Shapeshifters (Dr Packer Remix)

Lola’s Theme is a classic house track from 2004 and has been a favourite at weddings ever since. It was really cool to hear this new remix by Dr Packer picking up momentum in Ibiza over the summer, adding further life to this excellent track.

Track 8: Feel My Needs by Weiss (Purple Disco Machine Extended Mix)

This track is one of the biggest commercial house tracks of the summer and I love playing the Purple Disco Machine disco house remix at weddings because it gets younger and older guests dancing together.

Track 9: Somebody Else’s Guy by Jocelyn Brown (BadCat Remix)

Somebody Else’s Guy is one of the best songs ever written. When I am not DJing for weddings, I perform under the name BadCat and this remix is a bootleg DJ-only version that I produced in June this year. This remix charted number 47 in the Hypeddit house chart and has received a lot of support from DJs in Ibiza.

Track 10: Cubanito by Mirco Caruso

I personally love underground tech house and during my summer in Ibiza I was invited to DJ for a brand called Sesion at a club called Hush. Sesion is run by Terri-Anne who is one of the UK’s most exciting female DJs and she plays music with huge amounts of energy. Terri-Anne has this unique talent for being able to drop completely random surprises into her underground DJ sets and raise the energy levels to the next level. I remember Terri-Anne playing Cubanito in Ibiza and I could see everybody thinking “has she just played the Macarena?!” …and then the bass dropped. WOW!

Track 11: Dished (Male Stripper) by Purple Disco Machine

I was really lucky this summer to get to know the world class DJ, Damon Hess. Damon is a really versatile DJ and when I asked him for his number one recommendation of a house track that will be a massive hit at weddings, he didn’t even hesitate – Dished (Male Stripper) by Purple Disco Machine.

Track 12: Finder (The Path) by Ninetoes

One of the coolest brands in Ibiza is Pukka Up. They run a sunset boat party three times a week and a Saturday night event at Eden called Tropical Wonderland. Cansen is a resident DJ for Pukka Up and is one of Ibiza’s rising DJ stars. Cansen’s pick for weddings is Finder (the Path) and this track is huge.

Track 13: Sexiest Man in Jamaica by Endor

This catchy house track is a summer anthem and features a prominent steel drum riff which gives the whole track happy uplifting vibes. On the first day of my seven-week residency in Ibiza, I bumped into a really cool DJ called Zach Tellett and this is one of the killer tracks that he supported throughout the summer. Sexiest Man in Jamaica is perfect for a wedding – full of positivity and celebration.

Track 14: How Deep Is Your Love (Disciples & Unorthodox Remix)

Sometimes, a track has such a lasting impact that it sticks around for years. I absolutely love this remix of How Deep is Your Love as it combines beautiful vocals with an edgier, more underground sound world.

Track 15: Thoughts of She by Detroit Swindle

Quite simply, this is my favourite commercial vocal house track and I played it in every set during my residency in Ibiza. It samples an old funk track called Pushin’ On by the Quantic Soul Orchestra and the end result is absolutely brilliant. It makes you want to dance, it makes you want to sing and it makes you want to smile.

Track 16: I Wanna by Sean Roman (Illyus & Barrientos Remix)

This track is another fantastic recommendation from DJ Zach Tellett. It is a vocal house track that feels like a throwback to the piano house of the ‘90s. The melody is so catchy and it has an incredible groove that just gets you moving.

Track 17: On You by Michael Calfan (Aevion Remix)

I was so lucky to get to hang out in the DJ booth with Aevion at Eden this year and experience his style of high energy vocal house music. His remix of On You was such a big crowd pleaser and it was awesome to see the reaction of thousands of dancers when he dropped this track.

Track 18: Harmony Temperature by Cansen (Bootleg)

I was really honoured when Cansen gave me a copy of his awesome bootleg. It mashes up a Sean Paul anthem with a melodic house track and every single time that I play this at a wedding it whips the dance floor into a frenzy.

Track 19: Panic Room by Au/Ra & Camelphat (Esquire Remix)

This remix of Panic Room by Esquire narrowly missed out on being one of the official remixes but, in my opinion, it is the absolute best. Esquire is one of my favourite producers and I regularly play his remixes at weddings because they stay true to the original while adding a harder and more exciting twist.

Track 20: Dance all night by Damon Hess

The last track in the mix is a brand new tech house track by Damon Hess. Dance All Night is set to be one of the big tech house anthems of the winter. Damon Hess produces music with grit and it really packs a punch. This track sounds amazing over a Void sound system and the lyrics are perfect for weddings because everybody wants to dance all night long.
