How to find the perfect jewellery to suit your style of dress

Adding the finishing touch to your wedding day ensemble, jewellery offers a subtle or statement complement. Jian London advises what pieces make the perfect pairing
A hint of glitz and a touch of sparkle can serve to perfectly offset the bride’s all-important wedding gown and whatever the dress, there are jewellery options to suit all styles. Jian London offers insight in to the jewellery pieces that complement five designs of dress.
1. High neck, long sleeves
With your chest and neck fully covered, jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Avoid overlaying jewellery on the fabric as this can appear too fussy; instead, concentrate on the areas which are exposed, such as the hands and/or ears. Your wedding or engagement band serves to make a statement all of its very own, while a simple pair of earrings – for example, timeless pearls – deliver the final flourish for this elegant and classic style of dress.
2. Sweetheart neckline
Draw attention to the feminine silhouette of a sweetheart neckline with a sweetheart necklace that follows the same outline. If the rest of the dress is minimalist in appearance, add a matching bracelet and earrings to inject glamour and make a talking point out of your jewellery.
3. Cap sleeves
Flirty yet elegant, cap sleeves can present a fairytale princess vibe. Echoing this connotation, your jewellery should sparkle and stand out but without detracting from the dress. Wrists, fingers and ears can all be dressed with delicate diamonds or precious stones with pops of colour and should you wish to wear a necklace, choose a basic pendant that won’t overwhelm the décolletage.
Strapless dresses expose a number of areas which can be adorned with jewellery. The bare neckline should be dressed first and foremost, with the option to create a bold statement using costume jewellery or for understated brides, a classic necklace. All additions can be matched with complementing pieces – from bracelets and earrings, to extra rings.
5. Plunging neckline
A low neckline looks great with either a long pendant necklace that hangs the entire length or a simple chain sporting a precious stone as the centrepiece. Boho brides can further an ethereal feel with mismatching bangles, bracelets and rings, while traditional brides can opt for single statement pieces.
