Deciding on your wedding stationery is an exciting job. It’s one of the first things you will do, and it sets the style and tone for your big day.  VO Stationery offers a wide range of designs, or can create a bespoke theme. Here are some tips to help you when you are choosing your stationery.

To begin
Before you start looking, create your guest list in an organised Word or Excel document so you know exactly how many you are going to need and you can tick off names as you send invitations and receive RSVPs. This will save you time and costly errors further down the line.

As a rough timeline, we recommend the following:

Save the date cards – send these out as soon as you book your venue

Invitations – You should send these from six to eight months before your wedding date.

Table stationery and seating plan – Start to organise this as soon as you have received all your RSVPs. Place your order at least 10 days before the wedding.

Thank you notes – As soon as you return from your honeymoon, think about writing your thank you cards.

Buying all of your stationery from one supplier enables you to agree a single package price and will mean continuity throughout all your stationery. Save the date and RSVP cards can be designed as postcards, which will save you money on expensive envelopes.

Ensure you set a realistic cut-off date for your RSVPs and allow yourself enough time to create your seating plan. The last thing you want is to be panicking a few days before your big day.

Do your research to get inspiration and ideas of what to write in your invitations. There are plenty of ideas online. You could be traditional or quirky, but try and make it personal. At VO Stationery, most of the online stationery is pre-populated with the most commonly used wording to give you a starting point, but it is fully editable should you wish to create your own message.

Your stationery can give your guests a clue of what your wedding is going to be like, so think about your colour-scheme, style and theme. VO stationery recommends a wallet design, which keeps all the information in one place for your guests, and allows you to have additional cards printed for the extra details you will need to give, such as directions to the venue.

Unique planning system
VO Stationery allows you to create bespoke online table stationery via its unique online planning system. Once you have received your password and log in details, together with a user guide, you can access your own private area on the website where you can begin planning and creating all of your stationery. The system will automatically create online PDF proofs for you to check every detail at your leisure. Changes can be made at any time by logging back in to the site and making your amendments. You can re-proof at the click of a button.

If you require assistance at any time, the VO studio will be happy to guide you through the process or complete the order for you and place it back in your basket area for approval. Once the order is finalised, your stationery will be printed and delivery can be arranged directly to you or your venue if you prefer.
