How far are wedding guests prepared to travel?

07 Aug 2018

Recent research has uncovered just how far guests are prepared to travel for a wedding and the results may surprise you

A new study commissioned by HolidayAutos.com has looked at wedding travel trends in the UK with eye-opening results.

Almost a third of Brits considers travel time a key factor before they RSVP to a wedding invitation, with 66% of respondents stating that they would not be willing to travel more than three hours for the big day.

Even more astonishing is the finding that just 51% would travel three hours to attend the wedding of a sibling and even less (49%) would travel three hours for their child's wedding.

When explaining their reasons, one in four respondents said they wouldn't make the journey if the location was difficult to reach and 16% said they simply don’t have the transportation.

The solution? Turn the wedding into a 'staycation' and make use of a hire car. Lauren Gourley, head of brands for HolidayAutos.com, comments: “Having your own vehicle will allow you to travel more comfortably and get directly to the venue – as long as there is a road, you can get there. When hiring a car, you can opt for more space in a larger vehicle. Plus, car hire gives you freedom to do what you want, when you want, so you can change the obligation of a wedding into the fun of a staycation."
