Sun-hat Villas and Resorts have reported a rise in newlyweds opting for luxury private accommodation
Newlywed couples are choosing luxury villas over five-star hotels for their honeymoons, according to luxury holiday specialists Sun-hat Villas and Resorts.
Google searches indicate that the hunt for luxury hotels has been in steady decline over the last five years, with UK honeymooners favouring luxurious, private villas in which to sit back and relax together.
Recently, Sun-hat Villas and Resorts reported a 22% year-on-year increase in bookings of its properties, with a proportion of this increase coming from honeymooning couples.
Peter Jenkins, managing director of Sun-hat Villas and Resorts, said: “While many luxury honeymoons are still being spent in large five-star hotels, we are seeing a clear trend towards couples wanting to spend their first couple of weeks of marriage in high-quality, private and personal accommodation."
Sun-hat Villas and Resorts have also revealed some of the optional extras available to couples honeymooning in their villas, which included a masseuse visit, room service, personal chefs, private yacht hire, water sports classes and horseback riding along the beach at sunset.
