Coombe Abbey, which sits in 500 acres just outside Coventry, is launching a purpose-built marquee, specifically designed for larger weddings involving up to 350 guests.

It will be the largest of the hotel’s eight function suites and has been designed to allow visitors to enjoy the history of the former Cistercian Abbey in a more modern setting and on a larger-scale.

The new venue, erected on the hotel’s East Terrace, will boast its own bar, stage and dance floor, with access via the hotel’s main reception or its own private entrance.

It will also come fully carpeted, with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, ivory lining draped on the walls and a number of windows offering beautiful views across Coombe Abbey’s grounds and gardens.

Anyone who hires the marquee will have exclusive use on the day of the wedding and the freedom to use external suppliers for everything from the decorations and tableware to the catering, entertainment and staff.

Ron Terry, General Manager at Coombe Abbey hotel, said: ‘Coombe Abbey is one of Warwickshire’s most unique and beautiful venues and this new marquee will allow couples planning a wedding to enjoy all of that on a much larger scale, surrounded by up to 350 of their friends and family.’

The marquee, which is also designed to cater for other large private and corporate events, such as birthdays and business dinners, will be available to hire all year-round from June 2013.

Those attending the hotel’s wedding showcase on Sunday, June 2, will be among the first to get a sneak preview and have the opportunity to tour the hotel’s other function suites, which cater for between 25 and 160 guests for wedding receptions and civil ceremonies.

Visitors to the free event, which runs at Coombe Abbey from 3pm until 6pm, will also be able to meet with a variety of exhibitors, offering ideas on everything from cakes and flowers to dresses and entertainment and speak with the hotel’s wedding co-ordinators about the wide variety of wedding packages available, starting at £89 a head.

Bookings for the marquee, which will have a hire charge of £5,000 weekdays and £8,000 weekends, are being taken now.
