Having won the East of England ‘Make-up Artist of the Year’ award, Katy Angelidi is hoping to win a national title at the 2019 National Wedding Awards
Katy Angelidi has won herself a place in the final of the 2019 National Wedding Awards after being awarded the title ‘Make-up Artist of the Year’ in the East of England region.
The make-up artist is one half of the Hertfordshire-based beauty duo Barberella Hair and Make-up by Katy, and works across London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and the South East. Katy specialises in luxury bridal make-up and has an impressive 22 years of experience.
"Winning the regional title was absolutely incredible and I was up against some really strong competition,” says Katy: “It still hasn't sunk in that I'm through to the national final of these prestigious awards.”
Katy’s portfolio was judged by a panel of industry leaders and considered alongside client testimonials. Her work was scored across various categories before she was named the East of England winner. The regional winners will meet at the awards evening on January 16th at the Café de Paris in London.
"I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing brides, and helping to make their special day that little more special gives me real pride. I am really humbled that so many of them voted for me; getting to this stage of The Wedding Industry Awards is a real cherry on top of the cake."
Katy has also recently set up a new venture. ‘Beauty, Unfiltered’ is an online community offering make-up and skincare advice with training and tutorials. She says: “As a make-up artist and a mum of two young girls, I find the increasing trend towards using filters on selfies which then appear on social media very worrying.”
"I wanted to offer an alternative to the caked-on ‘instaglam’ make-up which offers an unrealistic image of what women should look like. And that is what ‘Beauty, Unfiltered’ is all about – using make-up to enhance what's beautiful in each individual and empower women in particular to feel happy with who they are."
