Hen and stag dos cost £260 more than 10 years ago

07 Sep 2017

A recent study has revealed that hen and stag dos are costing £350 per person, compared to £90 a decade ago

Money saving website VoucherCodesPro.co.uk has released research which has unveiled the cost of attending a hen or stag do in 2017 - and it's £260 more than a decade ago.

Nowadays, attendees have to fork out an average of £350 per person for a bride or groom's send off from singledom, compared to the £90 it cost before 2007. Accommodation was revealed as the element respondents considered the most expensive (54%), followed by travel (17%) and food and drink (15%).

The survey quizzed 2,342 UK-based adults who had attended a stag or hen party in the last two years and an additional 1,398 UK-based adults aged 30 or over who attended a hen or stag do between 2005 and 2007.

The comparison also discovered that two thirds of hen and stag dos now take place abroad, as opposed to 10 years ago when almost all took place in the UK. Majorca, Benidorm and Amsterdam were revealed as the top party destinations, with Dublin and Tenerife also making the top five.

George Charles, spokesperson for VoucherCodesPro.co.uk, commented: “A hen or stag party is the final blow-out for the bride or groom-to-be, however with this mentality people can get carried away and end up expecting friends and family to shell out hundreds. If you have all of your closest friends and family with you then it shouldn’t matter where you go or what you do. Remember that not everyone can afford to go to Majorca or Benidorm, and even if they can their responsibilities might not allow it."
