Hen Party Game Ideas

17 Dec 2015

From the maid of honour, to the mother of the bride, and the bride-to-be herself, there’s a pre-wedding event everyone’s looking forward to – the hen party.

But, of course, on a hen party, some of the guests may not have met before, so breaking the ice is hugely important. Undoubtedly, one of the best ways to get the party off to a roaring start is with a classic hen party game. With over 16 years’ experience, experts in the field, Last Night of Freedom, have rounded up a few of their all-time favourites - from silly to naughty and everything in-between.

Taboo
This one is really simple, yet such a fun way to really get the party started. Choose a list of words (we’d suggest no more than ten) – such as bride or hen - that are to be avoided during the duration of the night. Anyone who accidentally lets any of these words slip must complete a forfeit – from downing their drink, sharing a true fact or doing a crazy dare - the severity is up to you.

Piñata
We all know that no hen do is worth its salt without numerous willies in all shapes, sizes and guises. And, hen party games are no exception. The penis piñata is a fantastic ice breaker, where you and the girls (in true Mexican style) are blindfolded, spun around, and given a baton to bash some goodies out of the giant pink penis. Heaven.

Never Have I Ever
A take on the classic ‘truth or dare’, this hen party favourite is a perfect conversation starter. Hens will take turns to make a statement starting with “Never have I ever”, then anyone who has done what the player has said, must drink. You’re sure to have a laugh (whilst getting very tipsy), and find out a little more about your fellow hens than you may have first expected.

Toilet Paper Wedding Dress
This one’s an all-round winner for hen parties. Split your hens into groups and nominate a ‘bride’ in each group (the actual bride typically sits this one out, as she will pick the winner at the end of the game). Each team is given three rolls of toilet paper, and they must fashion a wedding dress and veil as best they can. The winning team gets a prize (we’d recommend a hen party goodie bag), and the losing teams must complete a forfeit - such as cleaning up afterwards.

Hoopla
Why not keep the girls entertained with a simple ring toss game… but with a twist? This is a hen party, so, of course, it would be rude not to include a willy. From the number of guys you must chat up, to the number of shots you must down – the forfeits and rewards are up to you.

Pass the Parcel
Based on the beloved childhood game, pass the parcel is sure to get you and the lasses giggling from the off. Consider risqué prizes and naughty challenges to mix it up a little.

Pin the Tail on the Male
In classic pin the tail on the donkey style frivolity, this hen do favourite involves being blindfolded, spun around, and then pinning the lucky fella’s, ahem, junk, in the correct location on his body. The closest to the correct position wins. Simple, and great fun.

Guess the Memory
All hen do guests anonymously write down a personal memory of the bride to be on a piece of paper. They are then put into a hat and the bride must read them aloud and guess which memory belongs to who. This is a perfect way to encourage everyone to get to know each other, and have a laugh together. The bride to be can then keep the memories as a keepsake of her unforgettable hen do.
