How to have the best day at Bride: The Wedding Show at Tatton Park

03 Dec 2019

Ensure your day at Bride: The Wedding Show at Tatton Park in Knutsford (February 1-2) is nothing but a success with this expert advice

A weekend of wedding planning awaits brides, grooms and their friends and family at Bride: The Wedding Show at Tatton Park. Returning to the majestic setting for its 18th year from February 1-2 (10am to 5pm), Bride: The Wedding Show will wow visitors with a wealth of wedding inspiration and entertainment galore.

There will be a host of local wedding businesses, including bridal boutiques, menswear suppliers, stationers, florists, cake makers, venues, photographers, venue stylists, transport providers and more. Couples can plan their wedding day under one roof, with opportunities to buy on the day and book consultations or appointments at a later date.

There will be a jam-packed programme of musical entertainment, a fully dressed marquee area courtesy of Mahood Marquees and a café serving food and drink... not to mention a fully stocked prosecco bar.

Plus the spellbinging catwalk show, which runs at four times daily, is an unmissable event. Showcasing the latest fashions in bridalwear, menswear, bridesmaids' dresses and guest fashion, audiences will be on their feet during the choreographed show, which will get you in the mood to celebrate.

Ahead of the event, a number of Bride: The Wedding Show at Tatton Park exhibitors share their best advice for getting the most out of the day.

"Ask as many questions as you can of the suppliers. If you think it’s a strange question, it’s not, it has probably already been asked ten times already. The suppliers are there to really help you and guide you." Adam Hudson of Adam Hudson Photography

"Look around everywhere first and ask lots of questions. Try to seek some good offers if you are not precious on timescale or dates because this can save you lots of cash." John Scott, general manager at Alderley Edge Hotel Bar & Restaurant

"Take your time and be patient. Some stands can get really busy but if you’re willing to wait then the stand-holders will do all they can to help you – speaking to the actual people who run the businesses is far more rewarding than just taking brochures and looking at websites." Nicola Thomas, owner of Boutique Bakery

"Don’t be afraid to ask the weird questions, know that there is lots to see, set aside lots of time to look around, pick up leaflets and pricelists, chat to vendors and most importantly break up the day with a lovely brew and a slice of yummy cake." Debbie McGregor of Debbie McGregor Photography

"Before the show, set up a separate wedding email for all of your wedding correspondence from suppliers and the venue so you do not miss emails." Debbie Crawford, sales office manager at Cottons Hotel & Spa

"Make a list of all the suppliers you would like to visit as there are a lot of exhibitors! If you can’t get to talk to the supplier then take a brochure and book in a consultation after the event." Shane Webber of Shane Webber Photography

"I recommend to only go to the stands that are connected to what you have left to book for your wedding day. The documentation from each retailer can be beneficial as it will indicate what budget you will require to get everything you want. Always ask what deals are going as it will be in the interest of most retailers to get your business and they will offer promotions to entice you into their store." "Don’t come with a huge crowd but if you must, come twice. There’s so much to see you don’t want to miss anything." Sarah Jones, owner of The Bridal Lounge

"Think about what you want to get out of the day – is it the venue, stationery or a florist? Check the exhibitors on The Wedding Show website and plan what you’d like to achieve from it. Keep some time aside for the catwalk show as that’s really good fun and is packed with wedding outfit inspiration." Megan Slade, senior event co-ordinator at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa

"When looking for your venue, decide on your priorities and then have a checklist with you so you don’t compromise on something you consider really important in the heat of the moment."  Brid Collins, general manager at The Quay Hotel and Spa

"It doesn’t have to be a fixed idea of what you are coming to see. Leave yourself open to talk to as many exhibitors as you can fit in during your visit. You may not think you need their services but they may offer you some real gems of advice from their own experiences, which can be priceless." Liz Jackson, events office manager at Amaze Hotels

"Give yourself plenty of time at the show, there are a lot of stands to see and you should take the chance to talk to any suppliers you are interested in; don’t be scared, we're all really nice. There is also one of the catwalks to catch, and of course it wouldn’t be a wedding show without a glass of fizz at the champagne bar." Emma Kendrick, owner of Maria Modes and Cheshire Menswear

"There’s lots to see, so start early! Try to do a bit of research first and draw up a priority list of what/who you want to see. Don’t just stick to walking the main aisles as there are a lot of great suppliers tucked away in the corners and the side aisles. Take the time to talk to suppliers, and don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions." Leanie Evans, photographer at Evans & Evans Photography

"Remember, you are not under any obligation to book any suppliers that you get some information from – find out what all of your options are and then make a decision. You might be surprised." Charlotte MacCormack, wedding sales co-ordinator at Thornton Manor Estate

"Before arriving at the show have a clear idea of what wedding details you want to focus on. Arrive earlier in the day and go to the relevant vendors and collect as much information as possible while it is a bit quieter. Once you have sorted out the key details just enjoy the rest of the day exploring all your options and don’t miss the fashion shows." Kimberley Lines, owner of Timeless Bride
