La Beau Fleurs Floral Design collaborated with local suppliers to create an elegant botanical wedding shoot inside a quirky gin bar
Rachel Peers, owner of La Beau Fleurs Floral Design, explains how she was inspired by the great outdoors and why she chose The Terrace Gin and Cigar Bar in Warrington as the backdrop for her wedding photoshoot.
The theme of ‘bringing the outdoors in’ is a growing trend within the wedding industry and I wanted to inspire brides to be brave with their choice of materials and show that foliage, one of 2020’s biggest trends, can look just as beautiful as flowers.
The venue inspired the shoot - I went for a drink with my husband and knew instantly that I wanted to use it as the backdrop and concept for a styled shoot. The Terrace Gin and Cigar Bar is a new concept of bar that can be used as both an open-air venue and an enclosed space. It holds wedding receptions located in the cultural quarter of Warrington town centre. Their décor captures the elegant botanical look which I love and, with all of their fixture and fitting being locally designed and made, it was the perfect space to create this look.
To create an elegant botanical look, I used five varieties of eucalyptus, ferns, ruscus and asparagus. I then added pheasant feathers and succulents to lift the whole design. The designs were natural and textured with a depth of interest from the different materials used.
Hair and make-up
For the hair and make-up, we wanted to keep the look very warm and modern reflecting the natural colours used within the rest of the shoot. We featured fresh glowing skin with subtle eyes and a brighter vibrant lip colour. The hair styles were natural and sophisticated, with flowing waves and romantic curls.
Bride and groom fashion
The bespoke dresses provided by Flamingo Boulevard Bridal were modern with an elegant edge, romantic yet sexy, classic yet current.
The groom's suits, provided by Whitfield and Ward, were perfect with the overall vision of classic and elegant. A traditional black tuxedo and a deep burgundy velvet tuxedo worked perfectly with the bride's gowns.
It was all about the hair when it came to accessories, Flamingo Boulevard Bridal provided two luxurious headbands, which are one of 2020’s biggest new trends - one was pearl and the other a plaited design.
The décor and finishing touches
I wanted to create a botanical look but for an elegant, sophisticated couple. It's easy to associate botanical designs with a vintage wedding but it was important for me to show that this look can be designed for modern and glamorous weddings. We did this by incorporating a large, striking backdrop of eucalyptus trees, fresh eucalyptus designs and by utilising the open-air surroundings of the bar for some great shots.
