25 May 2015
Cakes are looking grand, gold and opulent in the coming year – here is some inspiration for 2015 brides and grooms-to-be
As summer approaches, it’s beginning to get busy for those working in the wedding industry, as the traditional wedding season begins to heat up. Cake decorators from all over the country have been busy working on their new ideas and Unique Cakes, by Yevnig in Hampshire, is no exception. Yevnig, the creative force behind the Basingstoke-based boutique cake supplier, shares her insider’s view on emerging wedding cake trends and reveals 4 of her golden designs for this year.
“If the emerging trend for gold and champagne hues is anything to go by, then 2015 summer weddings are going to be magnificent,” says Yevnig. “We have seen a growing interest for all things golden, grand and luxurious in our bespoke cake consultations. Themes such as metallic finishes, shimmers and eye-catching lusters, coupled with stylish embellishments like pearls and sequins will surely be making the design headlines this summer!”
Chic metallic sequins are a hot favourite and are very much in vogue this season. With gorgeous sequined bridal dresses also becoming very popular, our ‘Golden Sequins’ cake is a decadent mixture of vintage frills, pearls and a glamorous burst of sequins; in a luxurious and splendid four-tier arrangement - bold and very unique.
Inspired by the flourishing chic trend, this cake captures hints of gold champagne, with elaborate love nest frills and colourful vintage patterning. A romantic birdcage sits atop three towering tiers. Elements of elegant jewellery, pearls and frills nestle a pair of white lovebirds. This cake has a wonderfully grand stature, presenting the perfect centrepiece for the discerning couple.
Heart of Gold
The design of this cake captures the true essence of love and happiness, celebrating the fun of marriage and living life together. With an effervescence of tiny golden spheres rising up through the tiers, the cake takes its inspiration from the bubbly and joyful qualities of vintage champagne. Frills on the lower tier and in the heart at the top are influenced by the classic elegance of a flowing wedding dress train.
Tower of Love
Standing an impressive three-feet high, the styling for this iconic grand centrepiece wedding cake was a custom request from a wonderful couple whose fairy tale love story began in the romantic city of Paris. A rich and opulent palette of colours enriches the design and our luxury lustered champagne gold finish is particularly-on trend and very attractive. The tower is augmented with delicate feathers and a beautiful swirling cascade of petite sugar blossoms in ivory, champagne and berry-red hues.
