As we approach the festive season, the need to sparkle is strong, and brides-to-be are welcoming golden pigments in their wedding wear.
Bridal collections are increasingly pushing the boundaries with the wedding dress colour palette, and we are seeing champagne and gold tones coming to the fore. Sheer fabrics, glistening tulle and champagne-coloured underlays offer a subtle nod to the trend, while sequins and shimmering embroidery can provide a more obvious take.
Megan Ziems, founder of Australian-based bridal range Grace Loves Lace, says: "If one thing’s for sure, Covid has changed the way brides approach wedding dressing. Brides are steering clear from the traditional bridal ‘rule book’ and are looking to celebrate with gowns that are unique and original. Golden-toned wedding gowns are one of the ways brides can transform the age-old wedding uniform, allowing them to wear something truly unique and unexpected. Luckily for us, Grace Loves Lace has always championed the non-traditional, with our gowns radiating soul, originality and authenticity."
Kobus Dippenaar, founder of bridal label Anna Georgina, adds: "Inherently festive, golden gowns have become the best fashion risk for brides who want something out of the box. The warm hue offers brides something a little extra for their day to remember and is the perfect shade for a ceremony to after-party look. Consider gold and sparkles for the winter and Christmas season, and beyond."
