Four Weddings and a Fine Time at…Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa

Belle Momenti Photography were asked to photograph a unique bridal event, where journalists were invited to attend a ‘wedding’ at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa

In 1994, the iconic Four Weddings and a Funeral (a quintessentially English romantic comedy) was filmed at the stunning Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa. This included scenes filmed in the Mansion House, the original Robert–Adam-designed ballroom, as well as one of the bedroom suites, where Hugh Grant is found hiding in a wardrobe on a couple’s wedding night.

The Elite Hotel Group owns four of the country’s grandest hotels, including: Ashdown Park Hotel & Country Club, Tylney Hall Hotel, The Grand Hotel Eastbourne and of course Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa. Tying in with the ‘Four Weddings’ theme, the group decided to implement a marketing initiative to generate awareness of the truly magnificent settings of the four hotels as wedding venues. Perhaps surprisingly, some people (even locals) are still unaware of the glamour and splendour of these venues, which are situated right on their doorstep!

On the 1st March 2014, Luton Hoo hosted the first of the four ‘Real Wedding’ events in the Mansion house – inviting a number of key editors and journalists from both national and regional wedding magazines and also national press. We were delighted (and very honoured) to be invited, as one the recommended wedding suppliers, to photograph the event. Our brief was to photograph the day as if it was a real wedding, with each of us photographing the bride and groom’s preparations before coming together to photograph the wedding ceremony and celebrations.

The day started with some pampering for the ladies, at Luton Hoo’s beautiful Spa, and clay pigeon shooting for the gents, followed by a stylish and elegant wedding ceremony and reception in the Mansion House. Very believable actors played the roles of bride and groom, mother and father of the bride, mother of the groom, bridesmaid and best man. The bride even shed a tear during her vows! After a sumptuous meal, witty speeches and cutting of the cake, the celebrations came to a close as the bride and groom walked through an arch of Luton Hoo umbrellas held by their guests into their awaiting taxi.

A wonderful demonstration as to why Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa is such a unique wedding venue with personal touches and attentive staff, we would urge any couples still seeking their perfect wedding venue to pay them a visit, www.lutonhoo.co.uk
