I knew exactly the type of wedding I wanted, having grown up watching Disney films as a child. My only request was I wanted to feel like a princess!

We set about attending wedding fares and buying bridal magazines. I wanted the day to be perfect so we began meeting wedding suppliers.

I hadn’t booked a venue or the church but I already knew who I wanted to do my flowers. I’d seen Red Floral Architecture’s flowers many times and knew that I wanted them to do ours. We booked Red and then set about finding a venue, unusual I know!

Our dilemma came in the form of venue. I wanted a marquee for our reception but Darrell wanted a Manor House or Stately home. We discussed this with various photographers and wedding suppliers and then one suggested we go and see Soughton Hall. As soon as we arrived and drove down the long path leading up to the house we were sold. It was breathtaking! When we found they had a marquee we knew this venue was perfect for us!

I loved trying on dresses and tried on various styles and colours. I had an idea of the type of dress I wanted and thought I’d found it, but it didn’t feel like ‘the one’. Then I drove past a wedding dress shop and saw this gown in the window. It wasn’t the dress I’d imagined, but it was beautiful. I tried it on and from the moment I slipped it on I knew this was ‘the dress’. It made me feel like a princess and I didn’t want to take it off!

Darrell’s and the grooms mens outfits came from Topman as Darrell wanted a slim fit 3-piece suit with a modern feel. When the boys tried their suits I knew they would go wonderfully with my dress.

Darrell was very much part of the planning of all aspects of our day which made everything even more special as it was a joint process. Although I’m sure at times he just agreed with whatever I suggested! He always said this was my special day and he would do everything in his power to make sure it was perfect! He’s amazing and that’s one of the reasons I love him so much.

On the day I woke up really early as I was filled with a nervous excitement but was surprisingly calm and relaxed. I wanted to enjoy the day as much as everyone else! The morning of the wedding seemed to fly by; Lois from GlamourbyLois arrived at 7am to set up and the bridesmaids arrived soon after. Jane from Red floral delivered my flowers and I was blown away by how beautiful they were.

ABC video weddings arrived with Stephanie and Steve from Ashton Photography to take the bridal preparation photos and begin filming. I’m really glad that I chose this as it allowed me to remember the day right from the beginning. Steph took some amazing photos of my shoes and dress, which really help towards capturing all of the day.

My bridesmaids were amazing and helped keep me calm during the morning. My nerves kicked in as I heard the wedding march begin to play but the instant I saw Darrell I felt calm again, although it took all my will power not to cry.

After the ceremony we had provided transport in the form of a London red bus to take everyone to Soughton Hall. The sun was shining and the weather was glorious, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. We’d booked Minerva Ensemble to play while our guests arrived and had drinks and canapés outside at the front of Soughton Hall.

When we walked into the marquee at Soughton Hall we were both blown away. We could get over how beautiful it was. Mat and his team had produced something incredible. He’d listened to what we’d wanted and produced above and beyond! The whole day went perfectly. I truly felt like a princess and I happily re-live the whole day again! I can’t thank all our friends and family enough for sharing in our special day. We can’t wait to continue our lives together as husband and wife.
