1. Start counting
Before looking at venues or a specific room in a venue, make sure you have an idea of the number of guests you will be inviting. The venue’s wedding specialist will be able to sort out the logistics and ensure you have the best possible setting to match your party size. For example, Luton Hoo has a beautiful selection of rooms suited to intimate wedding celebration with eight guests through to large banquets with 290 guests.
2. Summer or winter?
Think about the time of year your wedding will take place in when booking the venue; if it’s in the summer for example are you able to utilise the gardens? Some venues will have a nice outdoor option such as a terrace to enjoy drinks, close to your reception room.
3. Listen to your vendors!
The companies and people you hire for your special day are professionals who can help ensure your wedding is a day to remember. Your venue may have a list of recommended suppliers who know the property well and really know how to make the most of the surroundings e.g. the photographer will know the best areas for shooting and the florists will know what complements the ceremony room etc.
4. Encourage your wedding guests to get social!
Have a hashtag in the run-up to your wedding, so your guests can build up excitement for the big day. Then ask them to use the hashtag - e.g. #SueAndJohnsWedding - on the day when posting photographs - it is a great way to collate all of the photography from your guests’ point of view, and will make a nice alternative album to your professional one.
5. Relax
Choosing a venue with suites and a spa is the perfect way to get your bridal party together before the big day. Relax in the spa and have your beauty treatments the day before, and wake up in your suite with enough room for everyone to prepare you for your grand entrance.
