Last night ITV viewers watched the highly-anticipated wedding of Emmerdale couple Leyla and Pete, filmed at one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious wedding venues, Oulton Hall.
In what was a lavish affair at the Grade II listed country mansion, the picture-perfect wedding day started out well until the bride and groom got cold feet which resulted in a comedy escape.
General manager at Oulton Hall, Claire Steven, said: “Oulton Hall is a stunning setting for any wedding but the ITV crew made it look even more spectacular, dressing the room with big trees and hundreds of flowers and lanterns and it was fantastic to see the venue in all its glory, as the backdrop for such an iconic Yorkshire soap.
“We also welcomed members of the Emmerdale cast and crew, who stayed at Oulton Hall during the filming to get the full wedding weekend experience, making the most of the location and the hotel’s spa and health club. Luckily, we have never encountered a runaway bride or groom. However, the grounds certainly lend themselves to a stylish and dramatic escape.”
The scene was filmed over four days in July at QHotels’ Oulton Hall, just outside Leeds. Set in 300 acres of gardens, the filming follows a £50,000 investment into the luxury four-star hotel’s wedding space and facilities.
The investment includes a new outdoor wedding package that allows couples to exchange their vows in the beautiful grounds, as well as the creation of a stunning bridal suite where brides-to-be can get ready on the morning of their wedding.
The suite is complete with crystal chandeliers, statement wallpaper by Christian Lacroix and an extra-deep, king-size bed. Breakfast, served by the hotel’s butler, is included. Designed with wedding parties in mind, the suite features additional charging points and sockets for multiple hair dryers and straighteners. And, in the adjoining dressing room are full-length mirrors, a jewellery safe and double wardrobes, as well as a special wedding dress hanger suitable for even the longest of trains.
