Elegance meets simplicity in this dreamy Mallorca wedding

A simple colour scheme and minimalist details allowed the location of Celia Moore and Sam Uttley's destination wedding to take the spotlight

How did you meet?

In the gym.

Tell us about the proposal.

We were on holiday in Dubai and it was Christmas Eve. Sam booked a beautiful Thai restaurant on the water opposite the fountains and completely shocked me and got down on one knee.


What was the theme for the day, and did you have a colour scheme?

No theme. I kept the colour scheme simple with ivory and green.


What venue did you choose and why did you choose it?

St Regis Mardavall in Majorca The most beautiful venue on the island, we had always dreamt of a garden wedding and this was something else.



When did you know when you’d found ‘the’ dress?

I tried on many dresses and always went back to the dress I danced and cried in - Kenneth Winston was the designer.


What did the bridesmaids wear?

Nude full-length maxi dresses from Lipsy. 



Where did you find your suits?

The groom and the groomsmen wore very simple white shirts and beige pants. We had to keep it simple and cooling due to the hot climate.


Tell us about your floral arrangements.

Fitting with our colour scheme of ivory and green, we chose roses and gypsophila.



What did you choose for the wedding favours? 

Our favours were lottery scratch cards and we both won. 


How did you feel as you walked down the aisle?

I felt so nervous and had tears rolling down my face.



What was your most memorable moment?

The ceremony


What was the most challenging aspect of planning this wedding?

Having two very young babies, 15-months-old and three-months-old.



What was the most important investment for you?

It has got to be the open bar, from the moment our guests arrived to the end of the night. And the food was just amazing.


What song did you choose for your first dance?

Jason Mraz, I Won’t Give Up.


Did you have any evening entertainment?

Yes, a singer and DJ.


Tell us about your wedding cake.

It was a naked cake decorated with fresh flowers. We didn’t get chance to eat any but all our guests said it was very nice.


Do you have any advice for couples in the planning stages?

Don’t invest too much time in the smaller details as nobody remembers them.
