What geographical area do you cover? I cover Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire. However, I will travel anywhere; in 2014 I was booked to do a wedding in Greece.
How long has your business been running? 10 years
What does your business do? How does it stand out from the competition? I offer wedding hair and make-up services to the bride and her party in their home or at the venue. I have over 20 years' experience as a fully qualified and insured hairdresser and make-up artist. I take photos at each bride's trial and put them on my website in a password protected album so the bride can have a look at them whenever she would like. I don’t have a time limit at the trial as I only book one trial a day. I also only book one wedding a day so I stay with the bride (if she would like me too), right up to getting her into the wedding car or walking down the aisle. I am on hand to help with anything on the wedding morning; I have dressed the bride, pinned on buttonholes and even washed the kitchen floor at one bride's house. I send the bride a rough guide to timings and I arrive at the pre-arranged time, usually around 7am depending on how many people need pampering. I wear a professional tunic and bring all my own equipment including an emergency kit of safety pins, razor and scissors etc.
Why did you enter the 2017 EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards? I was entered into the awards by one of my brides. She emailed to let me know and I was totally overwhelmed by her lovely email.
What was your reaction to the announcement of your business as a finalist? I am absolutely gobsmacked that I am a finalist. I saw the list of entrants and didn’t think I stood a chance.
What are you most looking forward to at the EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards ceremony on 27th January, 2017, at Dunston Hall? I am looking forward to getting glammed up myself, for once, and to see all the other finalists.
