EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards Exceptional Customer Service, Finalist Q&A: The Main Event Norfolk Ltd
13 Jan 2017
The finalists of the EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards 2017 have been announced and ahead of the red carpet ceremony at Dunston Hall on Friday, 27th January, we get to know them a little better
Lynn Handley, director, The Main Event Norfolk Ltd - a finalist in the Exceptional Customer Service category, answers our Q&A.
The Main Event Norfolk Ltd
Office address: 52 Station Road, Snettisham, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. PE31 7QJ
Commercial kitchen address: 3 Bennett Mews, Sandy Lane, Docking, Norfolk. PE31 8FS
Telephone: 07970 616331 / 01485 544214
What geographic area does your business cover? North/north west and central Norfolk.
How long has your business been running? As The Main Event since 2009, but within other businesses along the coast since 1996.
What does your business do? How does it stand out from the competition? Our business provides catering for all outside events, particularly specialising in weddings. Although primarily caterers, we see our duties ranging way beyond what is generally expected under that heading. I manage the kitchen and my husband, Nick, manages front of house. Between us, and with our very experienced team, we offer a fully comprehensive service from menu building, tastings and itinerary planning to master of ceremonies duties, advice on purchasing wines suitable for the couple's chosen menu and a facility to store wines - all of which are offered free of charge. Our menu price per person includes all of these services as well as white table linen, crockery, cutlery, glassware and staff. There are no hidden extras and I believe this transparency and our willingness to be readily available at all times gives our clients confidence in our abilities to provide exactly what they are looking for.
Why did you enter the 2017 EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards? We were persuaded to enter by one of our past wedding clients and then supported by others. The EDP Wedding Awards is a prestigious competition, success in which is a positive way to raise our profile, so to be short-listed is a real bonus and will really benefit our business.
What was your reaction to the announcement of your business as a finalist? We were absolutely delighted to receive an email telling us we are short-listed as finalists in our category. In particular, that we were supported by clients who have been so satisfied with the service we provided on their wedding day that they took the time and trouble to endorse us.
What are you most looking forward to at the EDP Bride: The Wedding Awards ceremony on 27th January, 2017, at Dunston Hall? We are looking forward to meeting with other suppliers at Dunston Hall, who, like us, are involved in various aspects of wedding planning and co-ordinating. Every wedding day is unique and we meet a vast number of suppliers at different venues around the county all of whom bring their own niche expertise, so to have the opportunity to meet even more experts in the field is exciting.
