26 Feb 2020

Give your wedding the eco edge with the help of these wedding suppliers across the country

Sustainability and an eco-concious outlook is becoming more and more prevalent among brides and grooms planning their weddings. There has never been a better time to go green with your wedding planning and these wedding businesses will be able to offer a helping hand, while doing their bit for the environment.

Sparkle Vegan Events, Berkshire and South East England

If you would like an ethical and environmentally-friendly wedding, then Sparkle Vegan Events can make your dream a reality. Sparkle Vegan Events offers a range of bespoke options, from on-the-day coordination to full event management, to help ease the pressure and add a touch of sparkle.

The team also host the Sparkle Wedding Fair, which offers a fantastic opportunity to meet with eco-friendly suppliers and discuss how they can be part of your perfect day. You will be able to view gorgeous decorations, try delicious vegan cake and catering, discuss cruelty-free hair and make-up looks, choose photography packages,  browse unique favours and decide on many aspects of your wedding all under one roof.

The next Sparkle Wedding Fair is taking place on Sunday 10th October 2021 at the beautiful Trunkwell House Hotel in Berkshire. Entry is free and it's an event not to be missed.

Roxanne Halenko - Wear The Change, Lancashire

Roxanne Halenko at Wear The Change is a bespoke fashion designer. She says: "I come from generations for whom sewing was a family tradition, so it's no surprise that I have taken it up as my career as I’ve always had a passion for fashion from a very young age.

"I love being creative and designing unique one off garments, I get so much pleasure and joy from it especially when my customers come for consultations as they fall in love with my creations that I’ve handmade in Lancashire.

"One thing I love about my work is that when you make a purchase from me 10% goes to charity, hence my name Wear The Change. On my website there’s a section called ‘Giving Back’ where you’ll find all my donations/impacts I’ve made so far along with a map. I do this through B1G1, a non-profited charity so the money goes directly to the people that need it."

Beauty in Bloom, Yorkshire

Beauty in Bloom is a mobile and salon-based hair and beauty service. Beauty in Bloom is dedicated to not only ensuring brides and their bridal parties are fully taken care of and have a wonderfully relaxed wedding day morning, but doing as much as they can to be sustainable and eco-friendly.

At the end of last year, the Beauty in Bloom team decided to make it their mission to create an environmentally friendly salon and ensure they now source and use hair and make-up products and tools that are cruelty-free, sustainable and eco-friendly. They aim to use biodegradable items where possible and recycle their waste.

They are passionate to achieve this goal despite the challenges this poses within the beauty industry. Beauty in Bloom wants to offer all their brides the highest quality professional treatments, while doing their bit for the planet at the same time.

The Green House Hotel, Dorset

The Green House Hotel in Bournemouth is the go-to destination for an eco-friendly wedding and proves that luxury and sustainability can go hand in hand.

From the hotel’s award-winning Arbor Restaurant, sourcing local ingredients for your delicious wedding breakfast, to eco-conscious biodegradable confetti and vegan wedding packages, you can enjoy your day with the peace of mind that The Green House Hotel will look after you and the environment on your special day.

Take your pick from local suppliers who share the hotel’s ethos, such as florists who only use Fairtrade blooms, luxury bespoke vegan wedding cakes, or vegan hair and make-up products, cruelty-free and made without toxic chemicals.

PC Creations, Yorkshire

PC Creations Leeds is a small floral design business with a big heart, and there is nothing the team find more satisfying than working with flowers and foliage. Preparing fresh flower displays for weddings, no matter how big or small is so richly rewarding.

Pauline Alexis at PC Creations says: "We are mindful of the fact that we have no control over how the flowers and plants we buy are grown, but we try to counteract that by responsibly disposing of anything that we’re unable to use. Almost everything goes into the ‘brown bin’. We know it’s going to be composted, instead of to a landfill site."

PC Creations grow more than 30 shrubs, herbs, flowers and berries, which they will often include in clients’ floral designs. They purposely choose not to use pesticides and only use peat-free compost.  They've also opted to use biodegradable floral foam as well, endeavouring to be as eco-conscious as possible.

Amethyst Weddings, Hampshire

Amethyst Weddings is a wedding planning business owned and run by Sian Bowron. Sian has been helping couples plan their special days since 2012.

In 2017, Sian decided to switch from her strict vegetarian diet to a vegan lifestyle. As a result, she has become far more aware of the impact her lifestyle and food choices have on the environment as a whole.

Sian says "As an experienced wedding planner, I want to share my knowledge and expertise and help couples create their perfect eco-friendly wedding day. My mission is to make my weddings and events as sustainable as possible and help my couples reduce their impact on our environment."

Hippie Hire, Yorkshire

Forget your modern limousines, Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, what could be more eco-friendly than a beautiful fully restored 1971 vintage campervan with hidden modern upgrades?

Hippie Hire's Norris the Camper underwent a four-year total restoration, down to every last nut and bolt. Each part was removed and carefully restored rather than just replaced. Even the original engine was re-engineered and then tuned using modern methods to reduce pollution, while still retaining the classic VW sound.

The interior has many hidden options, from the modern efficient sound and heat insulation to the super energy efficient fridge and freezer. Hidden flexible and efficient modern solar panels supply all of the electrics in the van including the low wattage LED down lights, as well as the sound system and the fridge and freezer to keep your champagne on ice throughout your booking.

The Deep, Yorkshire

Are you looking for a unique, green and eco wedding venue? The Deep in Hull could be the perfect setting for your big day.

Offering a completely bespoke service, the dedicated events team work with you to ensure your special day is exactly how you imagine it. Your first meal as a married couple is extremely important, so be assured that The Deep's in-house chefs can muster up a masterpiece. The menu is locally sourced and the team can cater for dietary requirements such as vegetarians, vegans, and gluten- and dairy-free.
