Dream up a themed wedding
Used a shared interest to create a truly personal wedding
Shared interests can make for an excellent themed wedding – a style choice for your day that reflects a passion you both have.
It can be reflected in invitations, dress code, decorations, and music… in fact any or all aspects of your day.
Just make sure you let your guests know so that they can join in the theme of the big day.
Football is one for the grooms, but say you both love watching Chelsea. You could easily base the colour of your bridesmaid’s dresses, flowers, table decorations and venue décor around the blue colour of the team’s strip. The invitations could be designed to look like a football programme or ticket. One such wedding appeared in a national newspaper after every guest wore a replica shirt and the registrar was dressed as a referee – he blew a whistle to announce the marriage had been formalised.
What about a country or cultural themed day? Maybe if you are setting off on honeymoon to Paris a French theme could be central. Or something from literature, a Dickensian wedding, maybe or one mirroring the literary splendour of King Arthur’s court of Camelot.
Now here is one for the brides - you could always opt for a fairy tale theme and convince your man is your day to feel like a princess. Fun prince and princess caricatures can look great on your invites and how about fairy cakes instead of a big wedding cake?
How about a James Bond wedding? For all male guests 007 style tuxedos are mandatory and cocktail dresses for the women. Maybe as an added attraction a card table or roulette wheel could add a bit of spice for the reception. Just don’t follow what happened when Bond got married – just after the ceremony in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service his wife was shot dead.
