I woke up to a windy, but dry day, feeling calm and excited. After doing my make-up with a slightly jittery hand as soon as I put my dress on I felt ready to go!

I was worried I might get all emotional and cry walking down the aisle, but as soon as I arrived I heard Darren’s laugh and relaxed. Seeing all my friends and family smiling at me with dad on my arm I felt the happiest feeling. Darren looked back to watch me walk down the aisle and was smiling widely. He looked so handsome and proud. After the ceremony we walked out as Mr and Mrs Watt to Muse’s version of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’ – the best exit music ever!

There was a moment when our friend’s Bentley, we borrowed to take us to the reception, didn’t want to start but Darren and I just giggled on the back seat. Eventually it started and driving to the barn was great with lots of people beeping and waving. It’s amazing how a wedding car makes people feel happy.

We chose the barn because of its breathtaking location and decorated it the previous day with long banqueting tables in two rows, gingham placemats, daisies in tin cans and brightly coloured paper lanterns as well as glass jars for tea lights I painted with my sister and a friend.

We had no seating plan. Our guests helped themselves to hampers full of scrummy picnic food spread out on the tables and a hog roast, which made for a relaxed atmosphere.

We also had the speeches before dinner. Darren’s was comical but romantic. I don’t think he left a dry eye in the barn! I felt honored to be his wife!

In the evening my manager’s band The Ilkley Lads played for us and got everyone up dancing. They even played our first dance, a version of Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’.

The day zoomed by. I wish we could have set pause every so often to take it all in. It was so relaxed and full of love and the best party we could have wished for!

After spending the rest of the weekend chilling out in Oxford we jetted off to Mauritius for our honeymoon, a perfect time to reflect on our amazing wedding day.
