The day was a traditional country wedding, a church service followed by the reception, in a barn on a working farm! The whole day was very relaxed, which enabled us to take it all in and enjoy ourselves.
We really enjoyed the whole day. It is so hard to pick out one particular part.
Saying our vows was of course the most special part of the day, and walking out of the church as husband and wife.
I wore a Justin Alexander dress and borrowed antique earrings from my mother. I completed my outfit with Rachel Simpson shoes.
Our wedding stationery was designed by two friends and myself and my maid of honour made the seating plan from an old picture frame and some decorative paper.
We also hired a 1934 Vauxhall car from the Atwell Wilson Motor Museum, which is a not-for-profit organisation, run by volunteers, where funds go back into the restoration of old vehicles.
The food at Templar’s Barn was incredible. We had canapés with welcome drinks, and then a two course meal, all of which was faultless. We had some private photographs taken after the meal which lasted 20 minutes or so, and it was nice to get some informal photos of the two of us on our own.
For our honeymoon, we were lucky enough to be able to take four weeks off work. We started with a week in Nice in the south of France and a day trip to Monte Carlo. For the second week we stayed in the south of Corsica in a converted 13th century watch tower, booked through Corsican Places. We then went to Florence for three nights and then to Rome for a further three nights. For the final week we stayed in a villa on the Amalfi Coast booked through Tuscany Now. The highlight of the honeymoon was unanimously Florence, it really is a wonderful city.
