Make-up artist Nicola Miller teamed up with Bill Nessworthy of Nessworthy Photography and a host of Lancashire suppliers to create a shoot with staying power.
What was the inspiration behind the shoot?
We wanted to create a classic, timeless bridal shoot as it is a style which never fades or dates.
Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen
We chose the Stirk House Hotel in Clitheroe for a number of reasons. We really liked the different areas of the hotel; its has a beautiful bridal suite, beautiful gardens and it has lots of interesting features which were perfect for a classical bridal shoot.
I have always loved old buildings and this venue really fitted the theme for our styled shoot. It is also the place where Bill will be getting married next year to his fiancé Samantha.
What did you choose for the flower arrangements?
Usually when doing styled shoots I give the florist a brief of what colours we want and the type of bouquet. However on this occasion we gave the florist free rein to create whatever she wanted, as we didn’t have a strict colour theme running through the shoot. Jeanette of Jeanette’s Florist made a beautiful bouquet full of lilac and beige seasonal flowers and it fitted perfectly with our theme.
What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride?
In-keeping with the theme, we wanted to achieve a classic and timeless look for our bride... something that a bride could look back on in 10-20 years time and be proud of. Far too often brides can get caught up with make-up and hair trends that may look nice now but will certainly date in 10-20 years time. We opted for a neutral colour palette and worked with colours that would complement the bride's skin tone.
We had some wonderful hair accessories and jewellery donated to us for the shoot so we wanted to make sure when choosing a hairstyle that we were able to show everything off. The half-up half-down hairstyle is a very classic look that will never date.
We used some beautiful, delicate gold earrings with a matching pendant necklace and we also had a matching gold hairpin. The gold really stood out against the bride’s brunette hair and again the jewellery really complemented the theme.
