Weddings are costly and it can be your wedding details that may prove an unexpectedly expensive outlay.
Wedding DIY is increasingly popular and is favoured by brides and grooms who like to get creative and make a saving. However, it's not all glue guns and chalk paint... a wealth of wedding ideas can be found in the nature that surrounds us.
When it comes to your place settings, nature can provide a beautiful option whatever your style of wedding. We take a look at six innovative ideas that are impactful yet require minimal effort and expense.
Leaves
If you're hosting a country garden or woodland wedding, leaves are the perfect touch for your place names. Use waxy leaves that won't wilt as quickly and are easy to write on. You could even punch holes in fallen leaves for eco-friendly confetti or to scatter on tables, which looks especially eye-catching when you use colourful autumn leaves.
Feathers
Interesting feathers can take a while to find, so set out on your search well ahead of your wedding date. Go on lots of woodland walks or if you'd rather save yourself the search, you can buy packs of feathers from most craft stores. Once collected, attach a feather to each guest's cutlery bundle and don't forget to affix their name tag.

Fir cones
Fir cones are particularly suited to a winter wedding, but can be used whatever the season. You could even spray them to match your wedding colour scheme. Write-out name cards and attach them to each cone.

Pebbles
Source pebbles which are sturdy and sizeable, then practise your calligraphy and add your guests' names for the finishing touch.

Shells
If you are opting for a seaside-themed wedding, head to the beach and collect a variety of shells to add an authentic twist to your wedding tables. You could write the names on the shells or attach place cards.

Apples
Own an apple tree or know someone who does? Apples are a fruity addition to a spring or summer wedding and can add colour in an instant. Pears also provide for a pretty placement, while lemons and oranges can add a citrus kick.
