As arguably the most important piece of jewellery you’ll ever own, an engagement ring should have the ability to represent your own personality and character in its design, style and quirks.

While many newly engaged celebrities are presented with hugely extravagant platinum diamond rings from their partners, there are those who’ve gone against tradition with their ring choices.

As part of the new Engagement Ring Rich List study, the personal finance experts at have teamed up with Zack Stone, Engagement Ring Specialist at Jewellers Steven Stone to analyse some of the most iconic and valuable engagement rings that have graced the hands of celebrities.

Scarlett Johannson  - £320,000 / $443,000 (2019)

The Black Widow star was proposed to in 2019 with a beautifully unusual ring designed by Taffin’s James de Givenchy, which Zack estimates to be worth around £320,000. The piece features a huge pear-shaped diamond alongside a light brown diamond of around 11 carats near the knuckle.

Zack adds: "The feature of an old cut diamond gives the ring a sought-after vintage effect.”

The 2019 proposal between Oscar-winning Emma Stone and her now-husband Dave McCary reportedly took place in the exact office that they met three years previously.

Stone was guest hosting SNL, where McCary worked as a segment director, when they met, and he clearly thought that was the perfect place to start their next chapter together.

The unique ring presented to the actress was designed and created by Japanese jeweller Kataoka, and features a large pearl centre surrounded by diamonds.

Zack estimates the ring to be worth approximately $25,000, and comments that “it appears to feature a rare, natural saltwater pearl surrounded by a floral halo of diamonds.”

Somewhat fittingly considering his surname and the fact the couple have since named their baby daughter Daisy, Bloom chose to propose to Perry with a cluster ring resembling the shape of a flower.

Zack estimates the ring, which features a four-carat vivid pink oval-shaped diamond, arranged with surrounding white diamonds, is worth £27,000.

However, the couple have defied the odds and gone from strength to strength, with photos of their wedding going viral after being posted on the singer's Instagram profile in May this year.

Her beautifully unusual engagement ring, which Zack estimates is worth approximately £207,000, is a one-of-a-kind contemporary angled diamond with a pearl on the side from jeweler Jack Solow.

It’s rumoured that the unique piece holds a huge amount of sentimental value as well as financial, and that the pearl incorporated into the ring once belonged to Grande's late grandfather as part of a tie pin.
