REVEALED: Britain’s Best Bridesmaid 2019 finalists have been announced

04 Mar 2019

Hen and stag experts Red7 have received almost 500 entries in their search for Britain’s Best Bridesmaid 2019

Since beginning their search in December, the hen and stag experts at Red7 have had almost 500 entries in their search for Britain’s Best Bridesmaid 2019. Sarah Champman, head of hen, stag and sten at Red7, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the incredible stories sent in by nearly 500 grateful brides nominating their besties – our judges had their work cut out to shortlist just 14.”

The winning bridesmaid will win a luxury London spa weekend for two, as recognition for having gone above and beyond for their bride bestie.

Check out the list of finalists below…

Bride Jennifer Kackay nominated Laura Thompson and said: “She gave birth to her first son seven weeks before the wedding and her gran died three weeks before. She soldiered on and organised four hen parties.”

Emily Munro nominated her sister Hannah, who planned a surprise hen do for 20 of the bride’s nearest and dearest. When it came to the wedding itself, Hannah had a sudden allergic reaction. Emily said: “She took it all in her stride despite being in agony all day. You'd never have known – she was beyond selfless.”

Jenna Watts nominated Jo Miller who sadly lost her grandmother and both parents within just 18 months. Jenna says: “Jo deserves the title for putting me and my wedding before everything else.”

Bride Penelope Rose Mitchell said of bridesmaid Charlotte Walker: “I didn't know how much of a part she played in my life until the day I got the phone call from her then boyfriend saying Charlie was in ICU and very poorly. We thought we were going to lose her after suffering a stroke at the age of 22.”

Since then, Charlotte has retrained as a nurse. Penelope said: “My husband loves her like a sister as do I. Charlotte is nothing short of an angel and I can't quite believe I'm lucky enough to get to call her my best friend.”

North East

Christina Dawson nominated her bridesmaid Melissa Kane for her impressive acting on her hen do. Christina said: “She pulled off an amazing hen do while pretending to drink as no one knew she was pregnant at the time.” Melissa was also suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum at the time.

Emma Reed went above and beyond for bride Kat Sterling who said: “In the run up to our wedding we were hit with awful snow and didn’t know if it was actually going to go ahead until the day before.”

Emma kept the bride calm and when it came to the wedding itself, she resolved a family fall-out after one of the bridesmaids caused a big fight that almost caused the evening reception to be cancelled.

North West

Emmah Young helped keep bride Rowenah Wallworth’s anxieties at bay in the run up to the big day. “She even held my hair whilst I was being sick on my hen do,” said Emmah.

Katie Higginbottom managed to keep Claire Hankinson-Hayes’ hen do in Madrid a secret up until they reached airport security – an impressive feat.

Sarah Cross nominated Sophie Spence and said: “Sarah is literally one-in-a-million. She’s a nurse and just wants to help people – she’s even been to Ethiopia for six months to nurse.”

Kristen Morgan was nominated by bride Athalie Redwood-Mills, who said “Kirsten is the godmother of my little girl and encourages her to always be strong, to stay true to her dreams and that with hard work and persistence anything is possible. Kristen works so hard in her role as a coach for women in physical activity – she has changed so many lives.”

South West

Bride Lula Alexandra O'Niens was told she would have lost a limb if it weren’t for her bridesmaid Gabrielle George. Lula said: “I fell over on my hen do and badly broke my leg in four places - I virtually snapped it in half. She decided to pull it straight for some reason, thinking it might help – she has no first aid training...

“The surgeon said, due to me having to wait six hours for an ambulance that if she hadn’t done that, I would have lost my leg.”

Vicki Kiely was nominated by Meryl Caroll for helping the bride through difficult personal cirumstances. Meryl said: “In the 18 months of planning my wedding, my now husband was diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery and chemotherapy.”

Vicki helped Meryl plan the wedding through this upsetting time: “She was always there, helping, encouraging and taking on any jobs she could.”

South East

Becky Symonds nominated Stephanie Osbourne with whom she shares a sisterly bond. Becky said: “I sadly lost my nan a few months before the wedding and Steffi went above and beyond to ensure that she was remembered in the celebrations.”

Stephanie was also dealing with difficult circumstances. Becky says: “On my wedding day her dad had his first session of chemotherapy and Steffi was still the strong, happy woman we all know and love - her family even came and joined the celebration after the chemo. Steffi chose to stand by my side on one of the most difficult days of her life.”

Laura Munns was nominated by Louise Dennis who gave birth just months before the wedding. Laura says: “Not only did she give birth prematurely during the months leading up to my wedding, she held me together when I lost two relatives only a few weeks before my day. She planned a second last-minute hen do to give me the break I needed.”
