Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but foresight is better. When looking back on your wedding day, it is inevitable that you will have regrets or things that you wish you had anticipated. You can plan any event to a tee but it doesn't mean that things won't go wrong or, on reflection, things could have been better. Plus, trying to feel more relaxed in the lead up if you're prone to anxiety, is easier said than done.

However, when the big day has been and gone, it is important that you focus on the positives of the day and try not to dwell on any negatives. What matters is that you married your best friend, with your nearest and dearest by your side.

Hopefully, your day will be as perfect as you hoped, but here are some post-wedding thoughts from brides who got married in 2021, which may give you some food for thought and make your special day even better.

"I wish I'd known... how fast the day can go. Make sure that you enjoy and relax during the day because it disappears in a fleeting moment, but gives you memories for a lifetime." Lorna Lavallee, married at Stradsett Hall, Norfolk in May 2021

"I wish I’d known... to invite as many evening guests as you want, even if it seems a large number and bigger than you’ve catered for, because there are always people who can’t make it on the night." Abigail Southerden, married at Hockwold Hall, Norfolk in August 2021

"I wish I'd known... how much all the little bits and pieces would cost, but they do make all the difference." Katie Cane, married at Ketteringham Hall, Norfolk in July 2021

"I wish I'd known... how incredibly relaxed it was all going to be. I wish I hadn't wasted time in the months before feeling so nervous. As a second time bride, I was worried about being judged by having another wedding, which I think was why I wanted to steer away from tradition as much as possible. It was stupid, as good friends and family simply want to celebrate with you." Helen Massingham, married at The Flint Room, Norfolk in September 2021

"I wish I’d known... how much we would regret not getting a videographer. The day goes by so quickly and there are so many moments that we will not see again because they were not filmed. We got so caught up in the events of the day, as you do, and there is so much that happens that you don’t get to see or that you forget. If I recommend one thing, it is a videographer." Megan Woolacott, married at Applewood Hall, Norfolk in August 2021

"I wish I’d known... about the wedding blues. The day was so magical and I felt so sad it was all over. Make sure you plan lots of fun things to do after the wedding and make sure you have photos on your phone to look at every day." Jade Peruzzi, married at Hunters Hall, Norfolk in August 2021

"I wish I'd known... that everything works out in the end. Most of the time, if something goes wrong or gets forgotten, you don’t even notice on the day as you’re too busy having fun." Emma Postle, married at Titchwell Manor, Norfolk in July 2021

"I wish I’d known… how quickly the day would go. And how many of my pre-wedding worries wouldn’t be relevant; for example, 'how will we keep the drinks cold'?" Sam Anderson, married at Dan's Meadow, Suffolk in September 2021

"I wish I'd known… that our day would turn out as perfectly as it did. It would have saved a lot of tears, tantrums and anxieties." Maxine Flaxmer, married at Little Green Wedding Barn, Suffolk in July 2021

"I wish I’d known… how big the comedown was in the following days. We wish we could have gone on honeymoon straight away." Billie Skanda-Kumar, married at Kenton Hall Estate, Suffolk in August 2021

"I wish I’d known… how busy we’d be on the night before our wedding: squeezing in time to set up the church and venue, picking up guests from the train station, manicures/pedicures, and meeting family and friends for food and drinks" Lauren Anderson, married at Elms Barn, Norfolk in September 2021

"I wish Id known… just how quickly it all goes. We didn’t eat any of our canapés or the evening food as we were so busy all day and it just goes so quickly. I would love to go back and be a guest at our wedding so we can actually take it all in." Fiona Revell, married at Pentney Abbey, Norfolk in October 2021
