A record number of brides and their bridal parties flocked to Westpoint Arena for an unforgettable day of wedding planning.

The show, now in its seventh year, continues to be a hit for brides in the South West who are searching for the inspiration and information to make their wedding dreams a reality.

Primed and plentiful, there was inspiration on offer before the show had even begun. Queuing for almost an hour before the event, brides-to-be were directed through an outdoor marquee which featured an array of wedding transport and into the reception area, decorated by Infinity Events Hire.  This was only a taste of what to expect as brides’ appetites were whetted even further as they entered the exhibition hall.

More than 170 exhibitors – all local to the region – were delighted to be showcasing their services at the two-day event. Bridalwear and groomswear suppliers, venues, cakemakers, florists, photographers, stationers, jewellers and more turned out in force to guide and advise brides on building their perfect day.

Exhibitor Sam Brown, owner of bridal boutique Browns of Totnes, said: “As a first time exhibitor and new business I was unsure of what to expect at Bride: the Wedding Show. I was overwhelmed with how busy my stand was. I have lots of enquiries to follow up on. We even made dress sales at the show which I did not expect.”

A returning exhibitor, Debbie Vanstone of Mad Cakes was similarly thrilled by the response. She said: “Once again Bride: The Wedding Show was so well organised, it always makes life so much easier as an exhibitor. We experienced lots of crowds around our stand and lots of positive feedback. Social media was great too, with all of our tweets being retweeted by the organisers.”

The vintage area presented a whole host of elements to fulfil a vintage wedding theme, with The Cowlick Creamery, Vintage Camper Booths, Collishattrix, Bowjars and Heartfelt Gifts all showcasing their services in this dedicated space.

Entertainment was on offer throughout the day from a diverse pool of talented musical performers, who took to the stage in the café. Show-goers also delighted in the catwalk, held at three times on each day. Attracting enormous crowds, the catwalk delivered an electric and energetic atmosphere which was fuelled by the male and female models who strutted their stuff while dressed in designs from Moss Bros, Sassi Holford, Youngs Hire, Te Amo Brides and John Lewis – to name a few.

Karen Friend of Tiverton, Devon, who gets married in June, 2017, was at the show with three friends. She said: “The show has been great. We watched the catwalk together and it was really good fun. We have had such a laugh.”
