10 Jan 2018
More than a thousand brides- and grooms-to-be attended Bride: The Wedding Show at Knebworth Barns in Stevenage to meet with wedding suppliers and gain inspiration
Taking place on January 6-7, Bride: The Wedding Show at Knebworth Barns drew in crowds of engaged couples for a weekend of inspiration, entertainment and wedding planning.
The venue, set amid Knebworth House’s 250 acres of deer park, was transformed into a wedding wonderland. With a large roster of wedding suppliers in attendance, brides- and grooms-to-be were spoiled for choice. From transport providers, wedding planners and bridal boutiques to photographers, entertainers and cakemakers, the suppliers were ready and waiting to answer questions, provide quotes and book consultations.
The first 100 brides through the door received a complimentary goody bag that included samples from various suppliers, as well as a free copy of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire Bride magazine for them to peruse as they sipped a glass of bubbly at the champagne bar. A glossy showguide was also available with details of all the exhibitors, show-exclusive deals and discounts.
Guests enjoyed entertainment provided by Mr H Productions, including singers, violinists and saxophonists, as well as a spellbinding catwalk show. Running three times each day, the catwalk featured men’s, bridal and formal wear from Birdcage Bridal Boutique, Moss Bros, Cream of Royston, Ann Bridal, Chimney Formal Menswear and Ivory and Lace.
The weekend was a resounding success, with both guests and suppliers equally thrilled. Bride-to-be Kelly Kelsall from Hatfield said: “We really enjoyed Bride: The Wedding Show at Knebworth Barns. The fashion show was great; it was very entertaining. There was also a large variety of stalls – plus we got to try lots of cake.”
Sarah Gill, from London, attended with her husband-to-be. “The show has been really useful,” she said. “We’re looking at Knebworth as a potential venue and this show has given us a lot of inspiration. It’s been good to get quotes off suppliers, and we’ve eaten a lot of cake and tried all the photobooths. My husband-to-be Jonathan is here with me, which means no looking at wedding dresses, but we’re going to try on some rings.”
Exhibitors were just as happy with the show. Claire Festa from At Your Wish Cakes, said: “Bride: The Wedding Show 2018 at Knebworth Barns was well organised and enjoyable. The atmosphere among the exhibitors was fun and positive and I met some lovely people and exchanged business contacts. It was a busy show which will hopefully lead to plenty of new business for the coming months.”
Nici Martin, head of marketing at Trotter & Deane, agreed, saying: “Knebworth is a stunning location and we were impressed with the organisation both before and during the event. Footfall was constant on the Saturday, with Sunday absolutely heaving. Our range of ‘off the peg’ and ‘made to measure’ suits created huge interest with grooms and their brides looking for something unique for their big day.”
