Bride: The Wedding Show at Colchester makes much-anticipated debut
10 Nov 2016
Hosted at the luxurious Crowne Plaza Five Lakes Resort in Colchester, Bride: The Wedding Show was full to the brim with inspiration and ideas for brides-to-be to take home
Featuring more than 100 local suppliers, Bride: The Wedding Show made its debut in Colchester this month – offering even more couples a wonderful weekend of wedding planning.
Essex-based brides and their parties turned out in force, eager to connect with the multitude of local suppliers presenting their products at the event. Photographers, bridalwear boutiques, transport providers, caterers, cakemakers, florists, entertainers, venues and more were all on hand to advise and showcase their services.
Newly engaged couple Chloe Faint and Patrick Jones from Colchester, said: “We are getting married in August 2018. We came to get ideas about the whole wedding, but photography was the main priority. There are not that many places where you can find out the full quotes and get to meet the photographers. The show was absolutely fantastic.”
Alongside exclusive deals, discounts and competitions, show-goers delighted in the spectacular catwalk show which paraded designs from Serenity Brides, Boutique of Dreams, Anthony’s Menswear and Essex Bridal Outlet. Among the audience were placed goody bags containing golden tickets as part of the event’s Golden Ticket Giveaway which created an aura of excitement as brides-to-be scooped an array of prizes and vouchers from the show’s exhibitors.
Britain’s Got Talent star and wedding singer Wayne Woodward was even on hand throughout the event, performing before each catwalk show and serenading the crowds with classics such as Moon River by Frank Sinatra.
Wayne, who was performing at a family friend’s wedding the same evening, said: “Bride: The Wedding Show has been absolutely amazing. I love weddings because it's one big family; you're welcomed into a family and it's an honour to perform for them. I've done about six weddings since Britain’s Got Talent.”
And the praise didn’t stop there, with yet more happy couples showing their delight at the ideas and services they found at the event. Juliet Thompson and Ian Cotts are planning their second-time-around wedding next May at St Mary’s Church, Runwell, Essex, with a reception at The Royal Hotel in their home town of Southend-on-Sea. Juliet said: “We’ve come here with my daughter and granddaughter who are going to be bridesmaids and we’ve all had a great time. We’ve both been married before so we’re an older couple but that hasn’t stopped us having fun. We loved the catwalk and have seen loads of ideas for the things we’re looking for the wedding, such as cakes, flowers, stationery and a make-up artist and it’s also made us decide we might have a videographer.”
Diana Sims, general manager of Archant Weddings East, said: “Bride: The Wedding Show at Colchester offered brides and grooms-to-be all the ideas to make their wedding dreams a reality. Wayne Woodward and our sensational catwalk show created a fantastic buzz and our visitors left the event enthused and inspired. This was Bride: The Wedding Show’s first appearance in Essex and we thank our exhibitors and visitors for being a part of it. We are already looking forward to next year’s event on November 4-5.”
