Behind the scenes: Bride Magazine featured seasonal shoots at Stradsett Hall, Norfolk
17 Dec 2021
For spring/summer and autumn/winter wedding inspiration, take a look at these seasonally styled shoots at Stradsett Hall near Norwich
These two styled shoots at Stradsett Hall showcase two seasonally-inspired wedding set-ups, while demonstrating the versatility of the venue. Featured in the 2022 edition of Norfolk & Suffolk Bride magazine, here we go behind the scenes with the Norfolk-based suppliers who brought the concepts to life.
“Set in the rose garden in full fragrant bloom, the ceremony is styled with natural wooden seating and seasonal English flowers and foliage gathered on the estate, amplifying the magic of the English country garden. The Elizabethan rose garden porch, one of our four ceremony locations, and the aisle are framed with billowing arrangements, creating a romantic bower in which to exchange vows. The botanical themed orangery reception works in a fun citrus theme to complement the venue’s fruit trees.” Charlotte Stride-Bagge, Stradsett Hall
“The invitation suite and welcome sign were inspired by the beautiful features of Stradsett Hall, which are both classic and elegant. Simple touches of peach were paired with textures of vellum, thick paper and wax seals. We also used botanical illustrations to line the main envelope, a popular idea where couples can choose an envelope liner featuring their wedding flowers or a plant that is important to them.
“We created menus with matching fonts and layout, but with a pop of colour and featuring a Montserrat leaf to tie in with the tropical theme in the conservatory. Couples can change the clip colour, add a coloured name tag or change the leaf design to suit their wedding style and season.” Suzanne Merrylees, creative director, Silk & Ink Designs
Tableware and furniture
“With the arrival of sunshine, the Chiavari limewash chairs create the ideal setting for an outdoor wedding ceremony. The rustic benches and the rustic trestle tables match perfectly with the Evo granite flat plates and bowls together with fresh white linen. The sequence glasses and crystal tumbler sparkle alongside the distinguished baguette cutlery. Creative use of the gin goblets can be seen in the stunning hanging floral display while the rustic sharing boards offer an irresistible grazing selection.” Sharon Cook, Anglia Elite
Cake and catering
“Our two-tier cake featured peach melba and vanilla passionfruit flavours. We added a clear perspex separator to add height and give the illusion of a floating top tier. Our sister business, La Vegan Loca, caters for vegan lovers of really great food. We provided homemade seitan Southern Indian curries and picnic boards, perfect party food to celebrate with an infusion of spice, colour and fresh herbs.” Emma Thorburn, Buns Of Fun Bakery and La Vegan Loca
“Styled shoots are not only about creating something amazing, but they are also about being able to form alliances with other suppliers and helping each other with ideas. The results you see are an amazing team effort of everyone involved. The main challenge we faced on both shoots was the natural light. The autumnal shoot took place on an overcast and rainy day, so I had to use my own lighting equipment to shoot inside. However, these weren’t really problems, just something to anticipate. We all had the best time together.” Richard Jarmy
“For the second part of the photo shoot, which had a focus on sustainability, we spent a morning foraging the grounds of Stradsett Hall for floral materials we could use. We also collected other materials from the hedgerows of Norfolk’s country lanes and my own cut flower garden.
“We mixed pumpkins with fir cones and fruits, and used other materials such as contorted willow, oak and beech branches, roses, jasmine, dahlias, achillea, hydrangeas, dried seed heads and fallen leaves. Rich colours of red, copper and browns complemented our theme perfectly. Alison Mortlock, Albert Rose Flowers
Props and lighting
“We installed warm fairy lighting to the ceiling and kept the glow flowing with our roly poly tea lights, beautifully bouncing the light off our copper lanterns containing pillar candles. We dressed the chairs with white chiffon drapes and tied with dusky pink ribbon for a nod to the snowy winter, while continuing the autumnal warmth with wooden log slices and an olive cheesecloth table runner. Our ‘Happily Ever After’ wooden signage completed the set-up.” Kerry Ellis, Epic Event Hire
